Fuji X Series

There is a used one on sale in TP for £580.

I thought about it, it would work just the same but I kinda in a way like the opportunity to change lenses too. The overall cost between a X-Pro 1 + 23mm is £700. A X-100T is £580. It's a bit more but not on the grand scheme of things.

Also....The x-Pro 1 was like £1500 new and I like getting a bargain.

I think you're brave going in with the X-Pro1, it's bit of an acquired taste. There's a much bigger gap in performance to your DSLR, whereas with the newer bodies they are pretty much up there. It's a fun body to use though :)

It's a few hundred pounds, cheap enough to take a pun on, and sell on if I want an upgrade to say the X-Pro 2 or ST-2 and not lose money. I traded in a couple of lenses, sold my 5D2 body that was just sitting around so it doesn't cost me that much in the end.

I hope you enjoy it, I got into Fuji with an X-E1 which is of a similar vintage. The X-Pro1 was still pricey at the time and the X-E1 cost £150 so a similar position to where you are now. I also bought an adapter to use my FD lenses which was immense fun.

I've just ordered a cheap 25mm f1.8 manual lens to stick on the old X-E1 I still have, just for something to chuck in the bag wherever I go.

It's just for travel camera, I still have full set of Canon stuff. I know comparison will be there but I also know it's not the same. Hence I purposely went with the X-Pro 1 and not the XT-1 because I want a different feel to a DSLR.

I remember the X-E1, i almost got one too. I think I made posts about that in this very thread. In a way I am glad I didn't and waited because as you say, the X-Pro 1 was so expensive at the time but now it is so cheap. Plus the new lenses meant to focus much better than the 1.4 versions as well. Will update the firmware too and hopefully it can deliver some good stuff.

Yeah I know, I did the same originally. Now I also have a full Fuji kit :D For the comparison it mainly comes down to FF vs crop really (which is why I just can't quite let the Canon gear go) and the size to a smaller extent. The latest Fuji bodies perform well.

Looking forward to seeing what you do with it :)

I don't think I can fully go Fuji, mainly because of the DoF isn't the same on crop. There is a difference, like a difference between FF to MF.

FF is the best compromise between size of a MF but still have that bokeh and compression.

APS-C camera though...my first since the 30D! actually my 2nd ever. Looking forward to see how it does, even though the tech is 5 years old.

I owned both the X-Pro1 and X-E1 for a while a time back, and much preferred the handling of the X-Pro1. Image wise they're identical of course. AF was a bit better with the later firmware on the X-E1. They're both a bargain right now with the newer lenses.

Did you upgrade to the X-Pro 2 or X-T2?

Neither, downgraded to an RX10 and sold everything off. :p

I'm not really a srs photographer like you guys. The Fuji was more satisfying to use as a photographic tool for sure, but the Sony is so convenient.

Fuji refurb were doing them for £220 in 2015.

I can't get out of work either, I've got meetings both days or otherwise would have put a holiday in :(

Got the X-Pro 1 today.

1 - Great build quality !
2 - It's a bit small, the thumb grip and half case should help the ergonomics
3 - Lots of weird things going on I am not used to yet, like AF there are 2 boxes all the time, one I pre selected and one slight off to the side...weird.
4 - Is there a spot focusing option or always by area ?

About my particular one

1 - Only taken 2500 shots! It's practically brand new.
2 - It could passed as brand new, not a scratch anywhere. I looked!

Can't say I have come across number 3 before on my X-T1 and if you turn the dial on the back while selecting your focus area, it should decrease the area down to a spot... I think, never used the X-Pro 1 before.
