Fuji X Series

Need a side by side comparison to the A9 or 1Dxm2 or D5...otherwise I'd take that comment with a massive pinch of salt.

Yeah but he uses the D850 D500 and the GXF50. It's a major improvement on the XT2 which is good enough for me ;)

It will be interesting to see what everybody else thinks once the more in depth reviews start appearing. A side by side comparison to the A9 would be nice as the only decent review I have found is here: https://jonasraskphotography.com/2018/09/06/fujifilm-x-t3-review-next-generation-x/

I managed to receive mine today in silver. No grip though given the problems I am having.
I'll be taking it out along with my XT2 over the weekend to compare like for like at a local steampunk festival. Ken Wheeler is saying it has the fastest, most accurate autofocus of any camera he's ever used.

Can you show us a picture of all the auto focus points or the auto focus points in use on the LCD when in continuous auto focus mode? The eye Af looks very good in action.

I'll try if you can wait until Tuesday. I will be around some parts of Wales with intermittent/next to no signal until Monday or Tuesday. I don't know if Jase will be able to show you before this?

The coverage is almost the entire frame. I haven't had time to play around with my X-T3 yet but I'm sure there are some videos on YouTube already to demonstrate this.

The immediate thing I've noticed about the XT3 is how different it feels. It's a bit more robust and "chunkier" Even changing a lens on it is different with it being tighter/stiffer. Quite strange really.

That sounds good to me... I saw a couple of posts on DPReview saying they thought the build quality was less than the X-T2, but I was hoping that was psychological now that it's made in China instead of Japan. I'm hoping to get my pre-order this coming week from Camera World (who cheekily didn't get me in on the original batch, even though I was supposedly #7 in the queue).

The front and rear command dials are now difficult to knock and move accidentally. They click repetively when moved. I'm finding them a little too stiff since I am used to the smooth and fluid movement you got with the XT2. I suppose I'll have to get used to it. I can't understand why I am the first or only one to mention it?

It definitely is either psychological or someone just stirring things up ; the build quality is every bit as good as the X-T2, if not better.

I wouldn't listen to the unfounded concerns regarding the X-T3 being built in China and not Japan. Both the X-T1 & X-T2 were built in Japan, but both suffered from screws that hold the tripod mount in place just falling out - plenty of examples online.

There's plenty of trash that comes out of China, but there's also plenty of quality devices coming out of China too. Like Apple, Fujifilm as a brand, has a reputation to uphold and I'm sure they're sourcing from a capable manufacturing facility with robust QC processes in place.

Anybody else getting "boost mode is restricted" using Np-w126 as opposed to NP-W126S batteries on the grip?

Haven't got mine yet (and I don't have any non-s batteries anyway), but I have seen quite a few reports of this on the DPReview forums.

Pretty sure that will be down to the internals of the battery being different and the camera picking this up. Although they look the same and the mah capacity is the same from memory, the s model is more advanced. More accurate power delivery and less heat iirc. It's why the s is more expensive. I got a second s battery for my xt2 as I heard the original can get stuck in the battery compartment due to expanding slightly under load when shooting video and shooting continuously. I'm sure it wouldn't happen just using the camera normally but it put me off enough.

The cheapskate in me is asking if there are any issues with the Hahnel alternatives which are approximately two-thirds of the Fuji price? In what way is boost mode restricted? Does it mean limited use or no use at all?

Got an unexpected little windfall. £200 cashback + Camera body trade in ends on the 30th so decided to hand over my old 50D and order an X-T3. Will keep the X-E2 and try to tempt the wife back into Photography.

Sounds like a plan. I'm still keeping my XE2 also. As limited as it is I can't let go of it.
