I disagree with what you said about Oblivion though, I have played the Xbox 360 version and it still suffers from slow-downs even though it has a shorter draw distance, lower quality textures, lower levels of antialiasing, and zero anisotropic filtering. Not a very good track record considering it's so optimised (read: dumbed-down) for the Xbox 360 hardware.
It will be the exact same with Alan Wake, and Crysis if it is released for consoles.
Hmmmm....I'm not too sure about Oblivion, I know its "dummed" down as you say, fair enough. But have you tried running Oblivion in outdoor areas with 4xAA\8xAF\HDR at 1360x768. It won't be very smooth unless you've got SLI or something.
Considering the 360 version can run at...
1360x768 with 2xAA and HDR, thats not too bad. It might not be that smooth but its not really "jerky" relative to the PC version even on a top setup.
Still yeah, your kinda right, its not really all that
