Thats some bloatware then, Nvidia drivers = 64mb, ATi drivers = 13.3mb, jesus i didn't know ATi drivers were that huge compared to Nvidia ones, thats it x1800's going, Nvidia here i come.

64mb?! That's massive, how come the ones I download are about 27mb? ;)

You didn't hurt my ego at all, i find the CCC fine, and not much of a hog at all for me, and it opens in about 2 seconds for me as well, the CCC logo flashes on and off soon as i double click it and the CCC then appears, almost instant here.

Does using ATi tray Tools not use all them processes though as all that CLI.exe stuff is for the CCC, which you would'nt be using, correct me if im wrong as as i said the CCC is fine for me so ive never bothered with anything else. :)

Nah ATi Tray Tools only uses its own services unless you use the Overdrive feature in that in which case it uses an instance of ativexx.exe

ATi Tool again uses its own services but doesnt need any others included in the driver so best for people who dont like lots of processes.

But for some reason CCC is the only application that I can get a stable OC in, and I just fail to see why it should need to run so many things int he background

thx, lots of bits of info

Regardless I bet its gonna cost £400-500 easily thats thats proberly for the GTS ;)

After my 7800-512-GTX fried and I got a £400 refund its been tempting to not splash out on a beast of a card.

30-40% faster then X1950, and yeah agree thats not much if u consider GX2 is faster still, an improvement none the less but least it sounds realistic.

Will be more interesting to see the feature set and Image quality improvements if they have gone down that route that is.

Oh and SG1 season 10, yeah its good and then just wait till u see the Dragon.....

G80 sounds good but without a decent or latest killer game to back it up and show it off....

so its going to be about 30% faster than a x1950 xt for £500 WTF lol
for that you could get 2 x1950xtx and blow the g80 away hahaha
nvidia looks like they havent made the card near fast enough
looks like the brute force high power way of doing things is starting to top out and reach a plateu,
for this card to benchmark so poorly esp with it power requirements and on screen spec seems like the company is reaching a rock and a hard place ,
maybe it is time ati or nvidia bought some IP tech from Power VR ?

Yeah but don't forget you can get 2x G80's at over 1k to beat the 2x x1950's. :p
swings and roundabouts!
lol maybe we can all hook up direct to our houses 100amp supply sli 10 mobos together and play fear at 1000fps lol
this is getting crazy now honest , there is NO way i will be adding 2 psu`s to my pc to satify getting 16k in 3dmark 06

Gibbo's already said in the Nvidia price drop thread that G80 is going to be £500. :)

All your waiting for now is to see how many frames more your going to get for your cash. :D

Well be ok for you using step-up.

well considering an EVGA GX2 is £375 and a BFG is £387 a £120 more gets you an DX 10 CARD G80

Doesn't seem bad when you look at it like that.

still cheaper than buying two 7900 GTX's and running in SLI

Hang on....is the G80 faster then the GX2 then ?

And as I already have an board that can do Crossfire would I be better off getting 2 x 1950xt's then a single G80 ? (My gx2 is sold alas)

of course the G80 will be faster than the GX2

why would you sell your GX2 for x fire?

I didn't.
I presold my GX2 to a mate to get the money to buy a G80.

After hearing the not so encouraging benchmarks being reported I was thinking Xfire would be faster for not a lot more money. Of course I wouldn't go down that route to be honest. I would rather buy one powerful card that is faster at DX9 and has DX10 features as well.

As it so happens if things go well I could be getting 2 G80's on launch day ;)

if you want the fastest dx9 cards get 2 x1950xt cause it looks like they will be faster than a g80 esp , if 10.5 k in 3dm 06 is all it can muster
