oh yes a few letters and number that mean mega bucks to nvidia lol

Your priceless

So you advocate spending 600 quid on Xfire x1950

When DX 10 games are about you will not run them with DX 10 features?

LOL

I guess you have forgoten about R600?

no i never said i advocate spending 610 which is to expensive x1950 can be had for much less, but i dont advcate spending £500 on a dx 10 card when you cant use dx10 , esp, when a single dx9 card will cut through every game just now no problem ! for half of what the g80 will cost !

Can't see why anyone would want to invest in old dead technology when there's a new alternative available giving better performace, plus DX10 for cheaper than the old technology you'd need to buy to reach the same perfromance....

So, to hit the same performance level with old cards it costs more, gives you less performance and no DX!0 for when DX10 stuff appear. Duh!!! :D

Always fun to be holding a copy of that Microsoft flight sim X with Vista/DX10 requirements on it ;)

DX10-Vistas around the corner and yeah its gonna take time to adjust and for everyone to support it but its gotta be done.

The question is though will the G80 cut it for DX10??
I guess it will be a start - but then there won't be many DX10 games for a while and those that do appear it should be fine for.

By the time DX10 games start arriving in number and are pushing the requirements it'll be late 2007 early 2008 and we'll be looking at the G80/R600 sucessor. I dare say we'll have a G80 refresh 6 months down the line which will be a bit faster and a bit cooler, but then that's always going to happen. If you wait for the refresh the next version won't be far off.

I'll be changing early because i'm due a whole new machine. If I had something like a 1950 I probably wouldn't bother unless I could get a good price for my old card. Having said that a year from now you won't be able to give away a 1900 or GX2 so maybe better to take a bit of a hit now than have a card that you can't get anything for in a year. Lets face it, this time next year who's going to want to buy a DX9 only card, even second hand...

Exactly :)

A massive ammount of X1900's flooding the market when their owners want to upgrade to DX 10

Who are they kidding?

no one

There will be so many x1900's flying about by the time DX 10 is needed the x1900 will be seen as the 9800 pro.

9800 pro's in MM for 35 quid now(and its a DX9 card) :D

"Massive Amount" ROFLMAO. You need to get real. DX9 is suddenly not going to be supported when DX10 is released. DX9 will run along side for at least a couple of years if not longer. DX10 users will be the minority for a good while. So if I can pickup a couple of X1900's for £35 each then you can keep your DX10 cards.

9800 pro are almost 3 generation behind dx10 it is like sayng 2 years time about the x1900's.
If you cannot play dx10 games on dx9 cards at all or there is a very very big difference in eye candy then maybe the cards will drop down so much with in a year but i cannot see that and 1 thng the 9800 pro cannot do is sli or crossfire like the cards now that will give people a bit more time for a cheap speed upgrade.
Because they coming at around £500 i cannot really see a price drop on the cards.

Now if the dx10 was just a card upgrade like dx8/9 then all is well but adding os aswell adds 100 to 200 and you getting up to silly money and yes g80 will be the fastest dx9 card not sure by how much, but if i brought one and when dx10 came out and you have to upgrade again i would be sick for that price i want the fastest card for ages like the gx2 has been.
As most new games are dx9 aswell,dx9 isnot dead just yet
I am really looking at a console maybe when ps3 comes out next year i deside then.

I'm just hoping that the G80 is a turning point for nVidia quality wise, their 'optimisations' suck and switching them off dents performance waaaay too much for my liking!

When that happens I'll start considering them again ;)
