G80 specs finally confirmed! NOT old news!

Lmao, if I was splashing out £500 on one of these I'd be concerned about how it looked.

Absolutely. Hopefully this will be the version for the High Street Stores, and they'll be a professional edition with (a) heat pipes, fans and a block of chrome/silver/copper or (b) wind tunnel cooler made of UV reactive coloured perspex.

Although at £500, it should come with a servant girl who stands there fanning it!

for anyone who hasnt spotted it :

holy ****!
that is massive!

edit : why is part of it coloured in black? where it says 'keep out'
Its about where the HDCP chip would be?

EDIT: Found this for the GTS, what is that? Physics, HDCP, HD processor, VISTA AERO 2d processor or what? Audio....?

Physics could could be a very good posibilty, unless it is implemented on the GPU wafer

Audio could be another good possibility, to comply with HDCP standards. but there is no audio connector visible on the card

wont be a 2D processor for vista, as pretty much everything in Vista is done in 3D mode :)

Yeah I was thinking Aero processing sort of 2D+, not worth firing up the main core and all the power it uses. One of the earlier leaks said the physics was on onboard so... from what I've read I thought it was on die, not secondary.

Already on board the Geforce-8-Grafikchips a physics arithmetic and logic unit is named quantity Effects Physics Processor. She is to take over the physics computation. We could not experience detailed information to the quantity Effects Physics Processor unfortunately.

At least we have something interesting that we can now speculate on. :p

In regards to the mystery chip though:
I doubt its audio as even if the card is HDCP complient, DVI cannot carry audio, and that card doesnt have HDMI on it. So audios out of the question.

The physics thing has been quoted as being part of the main core. + its not a dedicated 'chip' anyway, afaik, its just an extra part of the core that allows the cores main ALUs to be used for more than gfx, in this case, physics.

With the extra SLI connector, likely to allow more bandwidth as with new crossfire versions. And that chip is likely to do the data routing/compositing needed for SLI, to save on core room.

Imo. :)
