G80 specs finally confirmed! NOT old news!

Just to add more fuel onto the rumour-fire: :p

Interestingly, the sample of G80GTX which I have had in hands have 2x SLI connectors. G80GTS has 1. nVidia will claim also that the GTX will have 2 times the performance 7900GTX , something that in 3DMark06 can be quite correct.

Not my info, but trust me, the source is very reliable.

Edit: same system, dont ask me about specs.

8800GTX 16909 / 11843

The above is from one of the 'master gurus' at guru3d forums ( http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=201168&page=2 ). Pinch of salt time as always, but I have a feeling these will turn out to be roughly correct. I'm assuming the numbers at the end are 3dmark 05/06 scores...

Yeah... I quite like these times, as new GFX releases approach but NDAs are still active. We go from 100% speculation, to having a fairly firm idea of the specs, until benchmark predictions stop being so wildly different from each other and form some kind of consensus (usually based almost entirely on 3dmark). Then the thing gets released and everyone completely forgets all the predictions and argue about game benchies and price instead :p

Reading all the speculation is quite fun (although reading people bitching about how great or how pointless a non-existant product is, over and over again, gets old pretty quickly - grow up boys). The guru3d site owner says that he has a G80 already but is under NDA. He said he wouldn't give anything more away, but linked to the inquirer article which claimed ~10.5k on a conroe 2.93. If that's not a hint I don't know what is :p

Need to get benchmarks... I'm not even considering one of these, going to buy a 7600GT and my PC will be complete. I'm just really intrigued about how all this technology advances and how 15K odd is right for a single card solution. Stuff like that, I never cease to be amazed by new technology and this is just carrying on the trend.

Got to say that those GTS benches are very impressive if true, it's twice as fast in 06 as my x1900xt which I just sold for good money. If it's between the 300 and 350 pound mark then I'm sold, it'll only cost me 90-140 pounds for the upgrade.

I fear I'm being a bit otpimistic on price though. :(

£400-500 I reckon price wise....

Inquirer are claiming its got broken HDCP/and other issues which aint been resolved possible software or hardware related....

Always hard to tell what card to go for we all know ATI vs Nvidia has been pretty close performance/IQ wise with the last 2 cards out, would hate to wait 2-3 months untill ATIs card also and just get a similar thing.

LOL There must be an ati to nvidia conspiricy, there low mid and high range always get near identical results.

I want to see a WOW OMG WTF product released by one of the two and then I would kill to get one but looking at the specs even if I had the cash I would be VERY hestitant. I agree with many others I will wait for the G80 refresh or the R600, though we'll just have to wait and see.

However if its released and after a month is a decent price £350 is fair for a top end graphics card, I will sell my x1900xtx and go for one however if I can pick up a dirt cheap x1900xt crossfire edition master card then I will prob go for that instead.

Just another reason not to buy Nvidia! They released their card first. Wait for ATIs offering and buy that when it's first released.

pinch of salt required but if its all true, oh deary deary me :p

what a JOKE, SLI and HDCP broken for now  , then they say that a driver release on the 25th of oct will fix the SLI issue, the cards not even out until november so how that's an issue or how they can claim it 'broken' is beyond me, and as for HDCP i've given up worrying about that months ago, I'll own many more gfx cards before HDCP even gets a look in.

Am I right in thinking that PureVideo NEVER got fixed for the first batch of 6800s? I think it was a promised feature that was supposed to get fixed in drivers but was actually borked in hardware?

Just early adopters's syndrome. Happens to ATI, nVIDIA, Car manufacturers - the lot. People that buy the first wave of a new product get stung.
