G80 specs finally confirmed! NOT old news!

Only thing to worry about now is the typical price increase for the priviledge of being British, and then VAT on top of that. :( I can see this ending up a £450 card easily
Being very careful not to talk about competitors. Just speculating.

I wouldn't want to buy from the US, imagine the RMA grief. Once things settle down then £450 looks about right, I'd bet it's higher than that at release, 5p back from a monkey?

Ah no, I didn't mean buying from the U.S. I meant that when things come over here they usually get VAT added on and then somehow get more money added on out of thin-air and just happen to be a lot more expensive than their U.S. counterparts.

I think you're probably spot-on with a £450 estimate, but keep in mind Gibbo said there will only be very limited supply for pre-order so they might cost a bit more due to demand.

LOL, yes I know, sorry I was thinking out loud. I don't want to breach the forum rules, so I'll say no more.

Well if the rrp is $650 in the US, add 10% or so for shipping costs into Europe, and then tax the lot at 17.5% VAT and you get approx 450 quid. Given that demand will exceed supply and etailors who are already making a profit are completely greedy and will take advantage of this and no doubt "gouge" on the price, this could easily be 500 quid like people have said already, and possibly higher. It shouldn't be though. No more then 450 is what we should be expected to pay.

Why can't OcUK let us know what the price will be ? Surely that won't be breaking the NDA since the RRP has already been reported at $650.

Is it going to be a case of them suddenly appearing on the site on the 7th or 8th Nov, just like the 7800GTX did at totally outrageous prices ?

The price has been pretty constant for the last few releases, I paid 380 for the 6800ultra and 400 each for 7800gtx's from OCUK (on release), the only exception being the 7900GTX which I got for the bargain price of 345, :D so I'm guessing 400 maximum.

Well I sold aload of kit, and don't need to go sli. But if the price is right I might. I have put aside 1,600 euro to cover sli and new motherhoard. Don't have mortgage to worry about :)

And the x1900xtx was £470 on release day? They only have a few and they know some people just have to have it asap and will pay through the noise to be first. £400? Not a chance, but I hope your right.

Surely with 2 weeks to go OcUK must know the price by now.

I rang them up last week and the person I spoke to said they did not know. And when I mentioned around 500 quid they said it could be that. Totally non commital. I bet they are deciding how much to overcharge which is why we don't know yet. How much were the 7800GTX 512's again when they came out for all of 2 days ?

Hi there

There won't be much of any cards I am afraid on launch, allocation will be very tight. I'd imagine possible as much as 200 units from NVIDIA for the whole of UK and its unlikely any of those will be EVGA or very little.

:( £400, I don't think so.

By saying there are 200 coming in, I suppose people will expect a sky high price from the get go and OcUK may well take advantage of that fact, regardless of whether there is 200 coming in or not, or if they have an exclusive deal, or got all of the allocation for the UK or Europe. It's happened before.

Would still be good to know a definite price.
