128 quid more over the agp 7800 gt gets you this ;)
You could use your existing ram and you have a mobo that will accomadate the next gen cards

after selling your socket a stuff the upgrade would cost you nothing ;)

Good stuff but you could save yourself a further £20 and have even better performance with the OcUK 7900 GT on offer. ;)

Spot on there gibbo :)

I would have put a 7900 gt in the spec but he said.

yea i want 512mb ram on my new gfx card as a minimum.

..

so the only choice with the 512mb ram in his budget was a 7800 gt 512mb card. :)

:o

thats over 400 quid for a full on system and my current system will go to waste since i will have to use its ram and case. also can;t be asked with a full on upgrade until quad core is on the cheapo. guess the bliss agp card is my best option.

:confused:

sell your socket A mobo and chip
then transfer everything over.

so nothing will go to waste.

youd be suprised how much socket A stuff is selling for, I sold my Athlon 2600 for £60 on ebay.

Dont bother with the price check forum, no one replies, its dead because no one can find it and people with under 250 posts cant even access it for some reason. Was much better when you could just ask in general harware, at least the thread actually got some views then.

Why feel sorry for them? It's hardly a few quid more, is it? and they still got the best AGP card at the time too.

Do you feel a bit sorry for the x1800 buyers, also? seeing that the superior x1900 was released so shortly after , plus the great price offer here at OCUK

Nope as the x1900 is just an x1800 with a few more shader units, that by the time are going to be used, it will be an old card too, so everyone who bought an x1900 has just got a speedbumped x1800, the x1900 is running the same games that the x1800 is running maxed out, only the x1900 is running them faster by few frames, x1900 will only come into its own when it gets its shader intensive games, which by the time will appear, DX10 will be around. :)

Nobody expected there to be a 7800 GT on AGP, as the 7800 GS was going to be the last one id have thought, so everyone rushed out for it, only Gainward decided to bring out a GT on AGP, which is a big jump in performance from the GS, so id expect those ppl who rushed out for the GS to be a bit peeved, where as x1800 like me are not bothered about the x1900 as its not that much better, just a little speedbump, as i said x1900 is only worth it in the shader intensive games that its not got yet, and won't for a long time, im certainly not bothered, i can max games out on my x1800 fine, and get great frame-rates, the x1900 is going to do the same, so i aint bothered about it.

If there was an absolute **** load of shader heavy games for the x1900 when it came out, then yeah we'd be peeved, as it would be much better than our x1800's, but seen as there aint, and the x1900 is running the same games with just a few frames more, then who cares, as i don't. :)

im going to wait a while i guess. hopefully the bliss card drops in price a little to the 250 mark, since 282+ delivery on top is a bit too much for my liking. also will have to see how much competitors sell it for. may even manage to get it cheaper if i look hard enough. ;)

For £280 you could buy a new mobo, 7800gt and new cpu.

No you coudln't.

mobo = £60
cpu = £100
7800GT = £200

= £360

Unless you buy a crap mobo and budget cpu making the 7800GT useless in the end.

Yeah but buying 2nd hand doesn't get you a warranty and no chance of 100% quality assurance/receipt etc etc.

Man I want one of these cards so much.

I read in a review that the 20 pipelines didn't hurt the GT so much and that it kept up with the GTX in a lot of things (especially when OC'd).

I've got a A64 3000+ CPU, a ASROCK KM800 MOBO socket 754, a 6800GT and 2gig of RAM. I play at 1280 -1024 * 2 AA, sometimes at a lower res as I'm not fussy.

I'm wondering will I actually see much of a difference with this card?

I appreciate all the other guys saying I could go to PCI-E at this price but I'm not technically minded when it comes to PC's and would probably pay a premium for this card IF... I knew it would cope with the upcoming games the system spec provided. I'm probably talking about 18 months of gaming until DX10 settles down.

Would I get 18 months out of this card?

I mean if it could cope with my system for 18 months. CPU could be a bottleneck.

I believe it could yes mate...Only thing you could consider would be the cpu, but after 5 months the 3500+ to whatever will drop in price due to the new Am2 cpu socket coming out...depends what your after...Realllllly high res with EVERYTHING up...Or 1280 x 1024 with some aa and high settings...

Guys i have a Dell(dont say anything, i know) P4 2.6Ghz CPU with 1GB RDRAM

Now if i sell the parts and buy something new as an alternative what should i get?Will my CPU be too much of a bottleneck if i go for this card? My mobo is AGP 4x.

I wouldnt mind getting a new system in a way if pushing it to 1Gb of RAM is easy and i can reuse my HDD, DVD recorder, network card etc. I have for the record neever made a system from scratch.
