I've played 7 games to completion from that list and could make a case for most of them to be GOTY:

Prey
The Evil Within 2
Wolfenstein 2
Resident Evil 7
What Remains of Edith Finch
Stories Untold
South Park TFBW

The last 2 were brilliant games but couldn't really put them in an overall GOTY category I don't think. It's between RE7 and The Evil Within 2 for me... Yeah I'm going to say Resident Evil 7 was the most special gaming experience so I'll go with that for my vote.

Depressing list. There wasn't one game this year that totally blew my mind. Many were over-hyped with the usual media ********. Most of the games released this year were 5/10 or 6/10.

Too much groupthink going on as usual.

AC Origins for me, just edging out Horizon Zero Dawn.

I really enjoyed Zelda, but ACO has ruined it for me, it just feels empty and super dull to explore now.

I've not played most of that list and there's only really been four games from the list that I've gotten much time out of; Original Sin 2, Mass Effect, PUBG and Shadow of War.
Out of those four, I'd say GOTY is easily Original Sin 2.

It's hard to say really, I enjoyed quite a few games this year.

Overall, I'd still give it to Nier as I know there won't be anything as weirdly creative and artistic till Taro's next work. And the damn soundtrack... Shame that many people didn't bother to play the game through and through or even try it but whatever.

Most fun game and also very unique by today's standards? Yakuza 0, easily. Though I played that last year and I'm now playing 6 as I have both in Japanese.

Other than that, AC: Origins has a jaw-dropping map (probably the best I've seen) which I enjoyed tremendously and is overall a good game.

WRC 7, GT Sport and Forza 7 are my favourite racers this year, don't think I can pick the best one.

My most played game this year is Tekken 7 and it certainly gets The Most Frustrating But Also The Most Rewarding Game of The Year award.

There are some good games like Horizon, Gravity Rush 2 and a couple of others which I can't fully judge as I haven't made enough progress in them yet (and probably won't for at least a couple of months) so I'll leave it at that.

Hmm, as I gave my award jointly to both Divinity 2 and AC:Origins I cant cast my votes, so for anybody looking at the poll, just add 1 to both of those titles.

Nier Automata for me. So much fun and addictive.
In the absence of Hollow Knight which I loved I also went for Nier.

It's incredible really. I remember having this odd realisation of "wow I'm really enjoying this game". Also it kind of knows it great, they way the play styles switch so effortlessly. Coupled with one of the best OST's ever created and a unique and somewhat bonkers story line...!

A Great game :)

It's not been a good year for the PC.. yet again, More a year of the loot crate!

I was going to go with Divinity 2 as you can clearly see how much effort has been put into the design and content.
However PUBG stole my vote purely because it brought back some life to community gaming on the PC.
