US: Game of Thrones - Season 3 - Book Comparison (Spoilers)

I thought the conversation between Thoros and Melisandre was interesting, I know it doesn't happen in the book. But the directors are supposed to know information about what happens in the event of GRRM's death (I feel bad just thinking about that possibility :p).

Also her little chat with Arya, maybe I'm just reading to much into it.

Well we know Arya is an important character with an ingesting story.

I can't believe some of the other changes this evening. The only reason I have Sky is for this, so I'll be saving £50 a month when this season is over.

You call it damaging, I call it getting towards specific points in a different order.
They manage to continue to show the cruelness of joffrey with minimal onscreen time, the bitterness and rivalry between varys and littelfinger, by using the vehicle of the much hated Ros.
I think it worked well as a change.
Gendry will be kept in it now, so the actor can be kept for later instead of released for four seasons to reappear later.
Things have to change, and so far I've enjoyed the differences.

One thing I do find odd, is the red god becoming the god of 'the stranger', looks like GRRM had simply too many smaller gods in the book to keep it easy for the viewer.

By damaging, I meant those 3 specific things are damaging to the characters involved, and their motivations:

Jaime killing Cleos for absolutely no reason. Completely out or character and making him a kinslayer!... Why did he even have to kill him to escape? Hands down the worst scene they have had in it.
Catelyn releasing Jaime before learning of the deaths- we the viewers already knew what was happening, could have just moved a couple of scenes around. This is probably why many viewers dislike her!
Brotherhood selling Gendry-... I used to like the Brotherhood, in this they are a band of Fanatical Slavers, who sacrifice kids.

I am fairly forgiving about changes, but only when they make sense!

Gendry doesn't make sense as he's actively involved in fairly major parts of the plot as a member of the brotherhood.

What's going on with the marriage of Loras too? He's not the heir to Highgarden and being part of the Kings guard makes much more sense.

Yeah, Loras, kingsguard, heirs doesn't really make much sense. I don't see how he can join the kg now, as he is the heir to Highgarden?... Especially as Tywin threatened them with naming him to the kg as a punishment, so it is obviously something they don't want to happen at all!

Maybe Cersei will engineer it to avoid marrying him?

Well in the book Tyrion didn't even know about his wedding either, did he? I don't recall scenes where it was being discussed until it was happening.

The heir to highgarden is just a variation on a theme, no doubt after the marriage of Joffrey, then Loras will be recruited into the kings guard. I am sure they will make the change later for Marg's sake.

Gendry takes the place of Edrac so we will see him from time to time. She'll leach him rather than Stannis perhaps? Who knows.
I can only assume there is more in the telling to come, that we haven't read in the books yet, and having him a more active character that doesn't go away for 3 seasons (as Theon should have) will be better for the viewers to keep up.

Yeah, Tywin persuades him that it would be a good idea!... In the show though, poor old Tyrion is as much a victim. He is being treated far too kindly imo. He is actually a pretty nasty character in the books...I wonder if they will show him killing Shae, or having that singer killed?
I wonder who they'll get to play the Ayra Stark that marries Ramsay Bolton? Until last night I would have sworn they'd have Ros playing that part somehow.

it will be interesting to see what they do, but using Ros was never on the cards:p...I think more than a few people would recognize Ros, she struts about with Littlefinger most of the time!
