US: Game of Thrones Season 3 (watch-a-long thread {no spoilers})

The Red Wedding hit me hard but the end of that, not read the books and was even expecting it all the way through the fight but like that *** me. No TV episode has left me with the impression that did.

I really liked his character too, he knew Kung Fu :(

Fantastic episode. Felt like absolutely tonnes of things happened, resolved and kicked off.

The fight, was short, but spectacular. The conclusion of the fight was also, incredibly tense and horrific. There is an almost point of view shot and the screams, horrific and beautiful television.

Roll on next episode :).

And yet another interesting character dead before we see much of him. **** this show sometimes :( That was such a pitiful cliched death as well.

Yeah, while the death itself was horrific and shocking, the execution with the cliché "downed villain rising again" was super lame. Maybe I am just annoyed the Red Viper died though, as he was a total badass :(

BTW, what was the significance of that rather lengthy conversation between Jaime and Tyrion about their retarded cousin? Perhaps I missed the point of it, but it seemed like an awful lot of filler for a show that can ill afford it!

(No spoilers please, I'm a non-book person!).

Cheers,

Su

yeah not a good scene to watch whilst eating, sure i brought a little back up. Still got that image burned into my head, You don't even see that sort of thing on SAW.

shame, and i guess the mountain survives given we saw what i assume was a squire wiping the poison from the blade(s), be interesting to see if that was intentional or not if it is even deemed relevant.

as for the conversation about the cousin, i guess something about a persons need for control and power over others or some hog wash and that all men will do everything to obtain it no matter the cost, or who pays it (purely speculative btw)

You reckon he was wiping poison off?! I assumed he was just polishing the blade, lol. However, if it was his own squire, surely it would be poison onto the blade, rather than off?

Also, I assume The Mountain is ggnore, since he was gurgling up blood, and seemed to be laid on the floor dead in the final shot?

Tyrion's fate is something very interesting in the final two episodes though... I really really can't see him being killed, since he seems to be one of those "plot weaving" characters like Arya Stark, Jon Snow etc. But then short of something extraordinary like a rescue attempt, he is pretty much doomed...

I found the end to be a bit overkill to be honest. It was like something out of SAW. GoT of all shows doesn't need something like excessive gore to be shocking considering what happens. I also find it annoying that the better characters (in terms of potential) keep getting killed off for the sake of shock factor. I'm not asking for good to prevail every time, but I'd much rather Oberyn stick around for another season or two so we could see him for more than a few minutes here and there.

Oh I can totally see him dying. GRRM has shown absolutely no hesitation in killing off important characters in the past, I see no reason to start now. Maybe Tyrion will find a way to cheat death, but I'm not counting on it.

I thought the last scene was fantastic, it was ominous from the start and gruesome at the end but it did it's job at ensureing it stays with me for a long time.

Not abiding to typical, clichéd scripts has really impressed me so far, a kindle to The Wire in some aspects.

Do we think Arya will FINALLY meet up with one of her family members? I.e. Sansa.

I have a feeling some major **** is going to go down in The Eyrie to stop them from getting back together!

The Hound has obviously got some sort of infection from his neckwound, which is an early ominous sign of something major, IMO...

I'm a book person and as far as I can remember the story about the bug crusher was completely fabricated, however it was probably just to show us how much Jaime does actually like his brother. Tyrion gets a lot of hate for being a dwarf from pretty much all his family members but Jaime really does like him. I think that's all that scene was for.

Also somewhat symbolic of the the upcoming bought ;)

The Mountain - CRUSH BUG!

Oberyon - Intelligent (or apparently not? :p)

It really annoyed me actually that he had basically won, but then died and lost. Annoyed me in the book, annoyed me in the TV show :p
