US: Game of Thrones Season 3 (watch-a-long thread {no spoilers})

Episodes 1 , 2 , 3 and 4 were sent out to critics

Someone leaked them lol

Can't help but wonder whether HBO did it on purpose. They know the first couple of episodes leak every year when they send them to press so to send out four... Plus they're always banging on about piracy helping their sales in the long run.

No they aren't, they just say that the piracy figures aren't doing much harm to their overall subscription income or the value of their shows in international markets. HBO would never say that piracy was a positive thing anyway, even if it were actually true in some way.

Why anyone would want to watch poor quality leaks I will never understand anyway. Just wait for each episode normally to air and then we can talk about them with everyone else!

I have a predicament in that GTA V is out in less than a day so all my time will be spent destroying the lives of virtual people :o

Why send FOUR episodes for review?

Does anyone have a Now TV subscription? If so, how's the picture quality? Tempted to subscribe for this season.

Yeah I mentioned quality as that's what every blog comment is currently going on about and none of those blogs have posted anything illegal! Just comments on why people would choose poor quality leaks over waiting for normal airing.

I think it's the whole spoiler thing, if they are out there then people are going to watch them no matter what the quality, so that they can enjoy them before getting bombarded with spoilers. Its certainly going to make the next four weeks a bit awkward.

I can only assume that its because a lot of magazines work on a monthly basis so they would need to watch them all and review the episodes to enable them to produce a review for the next months magazine.

Ah, that's a fair point which I hadn't considered :)

Yep, however this is not just confined to magazines, a lot of reviewers are given access to HBO's episodes in advance.

It's really helpful to have a friend that does this :o:D.

So from what I can tell there hasn't actually been any talk about the episode that aired?

Why can't deleted posts actually be deleted?
