My Razer Tarrantula is showing it's age after 3 or so years of use.

I'm after a suitable replacement

I've been looking at the Logitech G11 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=KB-090-LG&groupid=702&catid=23&subcat=1258
Also, I'm tempted by the Reclusa..
And that Microsoft Sidewinder..

Can anyone comment on the above..

Thanks

Do either of these suffer from ghosting?

Where you're say holding W, A and CTRL, then space doesn't work..

I've got a G11, its alright but pretty big and pretty ugly really, I would recommend a Saitek Eclipse II. :)

I have the eclipse 2 and none of the function buttons that you describe work in windows 7.

Also have a G11, Also had a G15, both ugly as sin, huge on the desk aswell. The usb ports are next to useless as hardly powerd. The blue lighting on my G11 is awesome and has all the media keys you want. Can be had quite cheap aswell.

To those people that have eclipse 2's, I have the original eclipse and I love it, best keyboard I've owned, the only thing that bothers me is the paint on the wasd etc. keys has worn away from overuse, did they fix this issue on the eclipse 2?
Another vote for saitek here. I had a logitech g15 and I just didn't like it at all, the keys had to be pushed quite hard for them to register, some buttons were awkward and stiff and so on. Saitek are great, very responsive, comfortable, I'm sticking with them for my keyboards from now on :D

I have a G11, the USB ports are useless though, but that's the only flaw imo. I think it looks good, and the media buttons are great, plus I've assigned all the G-buttons to do all sorts, from starting programs to inserting references and captions in word documents. It saves a lot of time. Backlight is decent too, and it matches all the rest of my stuff which has blue leds.

It's a great keyboard for gaming, and the keypress feels a lot more substantial than my previous logitech keyboard, which also makes it a bit louder.

I can't see the point in gaming keyboards. I used to have an Eclipse and frankly, this is much better.

My Cherry...something has those media keys.

Yeah, I suppose you're right. It's the same with gaming mice, the best mouse for gaming is the one you use right now, and which you're most comfortable with. The "Microsoft Optical Wheel Mouse 1.1" is the best gaming mouse you can buy in my opinion and it costs all of 12 quid :D

I like the shorter key presses on my Razer, I've used a lot of keyboards in the past and this is by far the best for playing games.

I have a big desk and headphones, so I have no cares about how loud a keyboard may be.

The Eclipse III looks rather nice too

I don't care about USB ports, unless they're powered, there's no point in having them anyway

I don't like the buttons on the side of the eclipse 3. It would take me years to unlearn grabbing the top left of my keyboard when starting a game with half an hour of ruddy intro and logo videos, getting ready for "esc" fest. What have you got there? Home, forward, back, I'd never use them.

I use a Lycosa and I quite like it. I needed the macros from the G15 because of my job but couldn't get a new G15 because I wanted the US layout. The lycosa was the only one I could get which had macro functionality and was available with a US layout.
The touch panel on the top right has 7 'buttons'. play/pause, stop, vol down, vol up, previous, next and one which cycles through the lighting.

I like the keyboard and the semi-laptop keys. I think they're easier and faster to type on than a normal keyboard or a laptop keyboard. The finish on the keys wears off way too easily though imo. tbf though, I work from home 8-16 hours a day and then often play games afterwards so they do get a lot of use.

I've got a big hairy HP SK-2501 downstairs, we've been hammering that for years and years and years, the key paint is as bold as the day we got it and everything works flawlessly. It makes a great gaming keyboard too :D Built to last it was.

I type with my nails downwards on certain keys though. Even my old MS keyboard had indentations on many of the keys and the letters where worn off. That took about 5 years though.

Thanks for all the commments so far guys, I'll wait for a few more opinions before deciding

Will be ordering two keyboards, one for me, one for my brother, will probably get two different ones

Don't want to spend over £40 per unit

I have the eclipse 1, when I used to play counter-strike I couldn't hold:

capslock(my ventrilo talk key)
w(walk)
ctrl(crouch)

all at the same time, as the vent key would stop working :( not sure if that has been fixed on the eclipse 2.

Razor Lycosa/Mirror Edition is what you want has all the play/pause keys and they are all touch activated... and the keyboard itself is smart as hell...

Blasphemy. Touch buttons are the bane of my life. If anyone can point me toward a keyboard with a volume slider rather than touch buttons, I'd mail them a cookie - Royal Mail, 1st class recorded.
