Gaming P.C full build. Advice needed

Ok first noob question incoming.

When I install the PSU in the bottom of the case the fan should point up correct? It's all screwed in and seems ok, there's a couple of screw holes without screws in (came supplied with 4).

Have it facing up if the case is going to be on carpet etc, if its going on a PC desk have it facing down.

It's best to have the fan facing down as it will draw cool air in from beneath the case (im assuming your case has vents at the bottom of the case. I would suggest "raising" the case by putting something underneath (old books or whatever) so more air can circulate underneath.

It's not the end of the world if the fan has to face up but the PSU will be sucking in warmer air from inside the case that's all.

There are vents underneath yeah.

When I face it down, only one of the holes lines up for the screws. THere is a plate underneath but when I remove that the PSU is to low to screw in

Panic over.

it's installed with the fan facing down now. The only problem is one of the screws won't go in. Think I may have bent the thread in the hole. But it's secure with 3 screws so no issue right? :)

Cool thanks.

Next question :)

Getting a bit confused by these channels for the RAM. They're colour coded white and blue, I'm using DDR 8gb (2 x 4gb sticks), so I guess I use either both in blue or both in white?

The 3.5" is in but not happy with it. got 3 different types of screw, one doesn't fit, one does fit but won't let the HDD slide back into the case, the 3rd fits and lets the slot slide back in but it's not completely tight. BUt the HDD won't fall out....

Maybe I shouldn't have built myself :)

Ok, think I've finished wiring it up....nearly. Two questions:

1) I seem to have SYS_FAN2 / 1 / 3 on the motherboard not being used. Now the 3 fans on the case already seem to be wired with the only connection being a power connection. Does that sound right? And should the fans usually plug straight into the PSU because none of the connectors seem to fit, maybe that need a little more force?

2) Front panel connectors. I have located the front panel port on my motherboard but there doesn't seem to be a label for the cables that I have left - Reset SW and Power SW and also HDD LED. Will they work in any of the front panel sockets on the motherboard?

cheers for the help

Have you read the instructions that came with the mobo fella?

I dont know what fans you have. My Z9 case had 1 fan that used a molex plug to connect to the PSU. The other 3 like most fans use a small 3 or 4 pin header which plugs into the mobo. Make sure you have plugged the fan from your heatsink into a header on the mobo or it won't spin!

The chassis cables also plug into the mobo and yes they have specific pins to plug into. It is usually printed on the mobo but is very small and hard to see......check in the book for the diagram

OK think I figured out the power switches etc. Was just reading it wrong in the book :)

The rear and top fans have molex connections and then a little connector which is already plugged into itself sort of coming off of a wire on the fan.

The only plug left over not plugged in says AC'97 on it (*edit* nevermind it's because I have HD audio plugged in instead)
