Gaming Surfaces (Mouse Mats to us commoners)...

I looked at ice mats then realised that you can buy a huge polished porcelain tile from b&q for a fraction of the cost and stick some rubber feet on it. Looks better in black also. Has worked great with my razor lachesis for years. It's also dishwasher safe.

I always used to think, who needs a mouse mat when you can just use a book/desk or something but I've just recently realised the difference.
I have a decent gaming mouse and when I wasn't using it on a mouse mat it was rather jerky (something thats started to stand out a lot more since seeing the quality/smoothness of using a good mouse mat.

I've had a Razer Goliathus for about a year which i got pretty cheap, my Logi G5 does glide all over it which is awesome, it does get marks and stuff on it but a wet wipe usually sorts it out.

I've used a couple of hard mats, the Razer Exactmat and a Qpad, but I much prefer a cloth mat. The only one I've tried is the Razer Mantis Control cloth mat but I'm quite happy with it. Been using it for over five years, damn, another part of my rig that needs an upgrade! :D

cloth mat all the way. my everglide titan used 4 different mice on it which were all brilliant. ive had it for... aslong as i remember and is still in perfect condition. you can pick up one of them gel wrist pads in PCworld/comet for like a fiver. ive had that longer than the everglide and is also in perfect condition.

I got a boogie.

Due to a 19" crt on my right side of the desk it kinda couldnt cover my desk fully so i have a little 5" flap hanging of the left side corner of the desk.

The boogie is nice tho it basically is a soft cushion for your whole desk. It isnt really any good or bad a mouse mat compared to a quid one but the size and coverage make your whole gaming area nice to rest your wrists or arms on and if your keyboard likes to glide then the matt helps keep it in place.

As purely a gaming pad for mouse, its meh it is a cloth mouse pad just like any other imo, nothing special for gaming with.

I have had one of these mouse pads for over a year now and while its very good I can ot find any washing instuctions for it. Its very grubby and in need of a wash but I dont want to knack it by sticking it in the washing machine.

Am I the only one who has gone from using a mouse mat to not using one at all? And then after doing so, not noticed a difference and wouldn't think about buying one again?

I have a Razer sphex. I like it a lot, it is super thin, (prob about as thin as a sheet of a4 paper), and it sticks to the desk. I like the fact that my wrist doesn't gave to pass over an edge. Being flush with the desk also means it is easy to clean and does not collect dust.

I use it with a sidewinder x8, and I find the mouse control to be smooth and accurate.

The downside compared to a soft surface is that it doesn't feel as nice.

its surprising a lot of people still game on wood surfaces and don't realise that wood grain effects the game. Boogie bug is a fantastic pad :) along with Qpad - very unique surface

I got myself an Ozone Ground Level Large mat, which I love - however, it just doesn't work with my Logitech MX Revolution mouse :(

Has anyone got an MX Revolution, and a soft mat, like the Ozone, and can confirm it works well, and the cursor doesn't jump about erratically as you try to move?

I've since taken the Ozone into work, and use it there with my old Logitech Cordless MouseMan Optical mouse (I think one of the first cordless, optical mice you could buy!) and it works perfectly - and everyone else loved it, so at Christmas I treated the rest of the office to one each! ;)

I get the impression the Boogie Pad is at best, average and if it was normal size, would be considered an average at best mouse mat?
