Gang of 12 'allegedly' rape British Citizen in Cyprus

Why am I no surprised anymore when these turn out to be false accusations (obviously this hasn't yet been proved to be true or false yet). We should absolutely take rape accusations seriously. But increasingly I'm finding it difficult to believe them as so many are turning out to be false. As I've said in another thread, false rape accusations really must be prosecuted because they not only harm the accused but they also harm genuine victims in the future.
They only harm the accused, rape accusations will always be taken seriously. Victims that don't lie have nothing to be afraid of. Remember it needs to be proven with evidence/confession that someone actually made a false accusation.

Feminists groups are even trying to stop UK courts from accessing women's phone data as that's how most cases collapse. In their ideal world women are to be believed and protected at all costs and men to be jailed because #MyFeelingsMatter.

The truth has always been a woman's worst enemy after all.

Israeli Education Minister Rafael Peretz, speaking to reporters outside a cabinet meeting on Sunday, said of the Cyprus case: “We need to check the details. We are certainly in favour of the children of Israel having the highest moral standard.”

:D

Killing innocent people doesn't count I guess.

So the woman has been arrested for making false claims.

Forgot about this thread but was then reminded of it when I saw the story on an seemingly dubious website @Diddums (quite deliberately) used as a source in another thread...

Just one thing:

"The group, aged from 15 to 20, denied the claim."

"aged from 15 to 20"

"aged from 15"

Surely she's now the rapist?

No? Women cant rape.

No? Women cant rape.

I suppose that depends on the Cypriot definition of rape, which may/may not be similar to most "Western" rape laws which say "rape" can only be "male on female" using specific "penis in orifice" language. I wonder if, with transfolk becoming more common and blurring the line between "male on female", there will be a change to the law surrounding what can be classed as rape in the UK as I think it could do with a total overhaul.

Well apparently Cyprus is known for poor conviction rates, they dont seem to have an official sexual assault definition, rape is defined as per. Don't believe they have a equitable version at all it would appear, not sure what the inverse would taken as, probably harassment.

But statutory rape is based on age, not the sexual act, surely. So gender definitions aren't relevant.

It is relevant when you consider her claim and their claims, there is no information on who she had interactions with realistically, all we know is that she was with a few of them, she claimed they had video'd her/helped keep her immobile. Which would imply they the youngest person being underage an irrelevancy.

This is just a pointless side issue honestly, we dont even know if the underage person provided her with that information before she reported it, it's not worth discussing the merits with this case unless they charge her with it.

Mystery deepens.

Can't recall who but I think someone predicted the Cypriot authorities would try and make it go away!

Sound like it has a bit more than he said/she said to it too if they filmed the thing:

They claimed the girl’s friends had attacked them but the hotel denied a fight ever happened.

Her legal team have also claimed she is also a victim of ‘revenge porn’ after a video of her was shared online.

The footage is believed to show one of the men saying: ‘You’re my whore – say you are my whore,’ in Hebrew.

A source said: ‘She doesn’t understand and asks what they are saying and one of them replies in English “We are saying you’re sexy”.

‘It is not very nice. It’s not how men should act. A lot of people in Israel are starting to question their behaviour.’

That's already been taken care of. A surgically constructed penis in UK law is recognised as something that can rape.

The bigger question is whether it is sexual assault if a trans person does not inform the person that they are trans prior to sex, and that person would not have consented if they knew.

There is actually precedence here, a man that seemingly didn't have a penis was convicted of (I think) sexual assualt for using an other object on women without their knowledge but during consensual sex early this year or last. Ended up on the sex offenders register.

That's slightly different as they had consentual sex with him but didn't agree to the insertion of objects and he used deception to do. I don't think there was a challenge to the concept that they would have slept with him if he had a penis. The trans cases will have to be based on potential HIV consent cases whereby the victim, if they knew the full facts, would have never consented to any (key word) sexual contact at all.
