Gary Lineker to leave BBC's Match of the Day

Alex Scott is more of a pundit than a presenter. Apparently Chappers won't do it for what they're offering. I think the presenter needs more charm rather than just the insight/charisma of a pundit. That's why Eni Aluko is so disliked in my opinion whereas Alex Scott, Gabby Logan and Laura Woods and suchlike are viewed more favourably because they're just positive and not morose and miserable

Dion Dublin did an obvious audition for the main presenters role at the start of MotD yesterday, wishing Gary Lineker a happy birthday with a bit of a comedy dig at his age, number of candles on the cake, fire risk etc. It looked fairly unscripted with Dion making sure he got his joke in before the show started. My immediate reaction was that is Dion just going for it, and you know what I wouldn't mind if Dion Dublin got the gig. He is already quite affable and does presenting on his home selling gig or whatever that is.

Kelly Cates is an oustanding presenter, knows her stuff, is respected withing the game and mpre than holds her own with the stuff she does on the overlap. Very sharp with comebacks and more then happy to take a joke too.

BBC doesn't deserve her.

Really surprised by that news, I had read that they wanted her but couldnt think for a moment that Kelly Cates would swap the biggest football channel for MOTD, which is effectively a very pale shadow of what it was decades ago. Really surprised that shes heading there, thats actually a really big loss for Sky

It is expected that Cates will join fellow broadcasters Mark Chapman and Gabby Logan, with presenting duties for Match of the Day and Match of the Day 2 split between the three.

I'd agree, while MOTD is an iconic show, Sky Sports is much more significant these days.

Match of the day show so little you can get better highlights on official youtube videos nowadays. Its a pale imitation of the program that it used to be.
Thats because they seem to think its a chat show now - typical BBC, not happy unless they have presenters sat talking about mental health and other "social" issues. Surprised they havent managed a way to shoe horn Strictly into it somehow as well.

New presenters revealed. Personally, I think this is a great choice.

It still boggles my mind that Kelly Cates left being (essentially) the top billing presenter of live football on Sky Sports for a BBC delayed highlights show. I mean I get that it has the "Match of the Day" name but its a name which , like Jose Mourinho, is an outdated shadow of its former self.
