Gauntlet 2009 Joiners Thread!

Ha! Didn't go so well, when I went to install XP 32 but it kept on BSODing as it went to launch the installer after copying the files. Not sure why, but tried it without a couple of peripherals and it still did it. Couldn't be bothered to remove all my ram and make my system stock/investigate further for something that probably wasn't going to work anyway.

OT But I found the tape/glue that was holding my side panel window in place had melted, as the window had dropped down 2-3" . I though the top looked extra clear, but then it hit me there was a hole :p :o

Bob, you wanna play a bit more games on that monster machine? lol. looks like your 3x 260s are going to whip my behind.....my average seem to be 12k cobblies a day, whereas in the last two days you outputted 18k....

wonder whether its more power efficient to run the monster of your rig, or my 2x mATX (1 with a 260, 1 with a 8600), 1x mITX, 2x laptops (no CUDA on these)

sigh.
 
KE1HA has tested this - and a single boxen with multi cards is most efficient in terms of power BUT ONLY with the same cards - if using dis-simular cards it's sometime better to split them.

What's people's view on astropulse units in regards to the gauntlet?

I've just looked at my pending - and all the usefull information that's available on who else is cruching that unit - and what do I find...

90% of my astro's are currently in pending
all of them are expected to finish in the last 2 days or beyond the gauntles close :(

So do I kill all astropulse units in my que and not ask for anymore - as they will never be credited during the compertition (and I only do seti for these three+ weeks a year)
 
well, i would not do astropulse wu's just because they take so much longer till their datelines tick over- i have accept seti enhanced wu and accept astropulse if there is no other wu's avail.

Thanks guys - finished my last astropulse unit last nice - just 6.03 & 6.08's now
Edit: looks like my RAC may jump another 2k now I've stopped doing these.
