(Gay thread alert) Dying hair white

Using a strong peroxide several times may get your hair to a very blonde colour and eventually white but be very careful.
Peroxide is definitely damaging for the hair, and as my friend found out, constant use changes the hair to an almost cotton-wool like feel and appearance.
Her hair now falls out in huge chunks if she were to run her hands through it.

It is so bad for the hair, but if you're certain that it's what you want, I'd recommend some deep conditioning treatment between peroxides, just to try to rescue the hair quality.

Acutally it isn't bleach white, it would probally be bleached to a still yellow hue, and then a toner/rinse in the opposite colour (usually lilac, orlight sky/baby blue) to counter the yellow tone.
Or bleach it light then rinse everyday with a semi-permanat white dye.

I have a friend who tried it (done by a salon) and he lost a LOT of his hair, it's taken about 5 years for it to properly thicken out again..

just leave it as it currently is mate :)

Hmm my hair is fairly thin so if it involved any of my hair falling out I'd rather give it a miss. I'll go and have a talk with a stylist tmoorrow.

As for why....why not? I like to try different things and this would fit the bill :D

Go to a hair salon. I decided to have a change a few years ago so got my hair bleached pretty light (not fully white but very blonde). £40 and half an hour or so later and it was done. However my hair is very fair anyway (dark/mousy blonde) so I guess it is probably harder to do for dark hair.

Once that's done you can have a play with the short term hair dyes. I put a copper one in, my friends still swear it was pink... :(

Are you wanting permanently white hair? Because if not you can get white (and other coloured) hairsprays from fancy dress shops. Used one to make a white streak for a party outfit once .. and before you do go killing your hair with peroxide, might want to try a last longterm solution to check that white hair actually suits you.

My mum 'bleached' about 3/4 of the length of my hair when I was about 17. I liked to think I looked like a Norwegian hardcore artist, but in reality I looked like a royal tit. Especially because she ballsed up and I ended up with a chequer pattern on the back of my head.

Did it look like a batternberg cake? :p

I'm alarmed as to why so many people have tried it.

Change? That's why I did it, just to see what it would look like.:p

The first few days confused me every time I looked in the mirror however.:o

I really wouldn't recommend doing at home however!

Only folk that I seen pull off white hair are The doc from Back to the future and bill from 24, would be cool to have for a day though if possible but I have dark brown hair :(
