(Gay thread alert) Dying hair white

Dude, you're so... gay! Such a gay thread too! How lovely! :D

Well when I had hair (well.. more of it), I always toyed with the idea of mucking it up royally... I didn't though. I know have speckles of grey "au naturel" on what hair I have left :D

Pics when you get it done tbfh!!

I've been pure white once for a short while, i've got light blonde hair naturally though, took about 45 minutes to bleach it out then a toner (i think thats what it was called).

Messes your hair up big time though.

For our football team final at uni we all bleached the hell out of our hair, was almost totally white. Look liked such a ***** (and we lost) that I shaved my head the next day.

We just all used cheap bleach and was pretty damn white.

I've been to the hairdressers for a consultation and I've been told it shouldn't be too complicated with my hair. Bloody pricey though. They didn't have time to do it today and I'm off to Texas tomorrow so I'm booked in for 30th September.

I might post pics if the price is right :D

My hair is white at the moment. I kinda alternate shades between that and silver. It doesn't take a shedload of bleach as some are suggesting, that will just leave you bald. It's requires a bleach at first, but that will only take it to varying shades of yellow dependant on your hair. It will need colour and toner (Often in large quantities) thereafter to make the hair white. The Loreal Professional Luo Colour range is what my local salon uses and it's great. I top that up time to time with Wella Colourfresh silver toner and I also have some bizzare stuff my missus bought back over from her rents in Florida that semi-permanent but turns my hair a lovely strong silver.

Be warned though, it is largely dependant on your hair as to how white you can get it. Some of the girls in the Salon have been trying for ages and still can't get it there.

Further be warned, my friends are fully understanding in my whole fashion/hair/photography lark, so from me it's to be expected. You may not be so fortunate :D

Edit: A final be warned, the only reason I can keep having my hair white is the heavily discounted rates I get at my local Saks Hair salon (IE free time and trade on products). I'm good friends with everyone who works there and do all their photography. If I was paying full whack I certainly would not have this hairstyle.

I have a section of my head dyed in a grey/ash colour. It looks grey/ash for about a week then fades to a very bright blonde :p

You WILL need Schwafkopf (will get proper spelling later) silver shampoo otherwise it'll go ginger...trust me ;)

The Schwarzkopf* stuff isn't the best. You can get much better products at a local hair supplier (Surprisingly common). But yes, you do need silver shampoo (And conditioner!) to maintain the colour. It shouldn't go ginger though (Unless you didn't bleach it properly to start with), it'l just go yellow.

My hair is VERY resistant to the colour. It had to be bleached twice, then dyed 3 times before it went a proper silver colour for the first time. Now it just requires a top up and most of the time its a light yellow colour which I like to be honest :) - The grey/ash does look good but to keep it that colour would require it being dyed every damn week.

You've reminded me to get my roots done though :p

I've had streaks done white, but I'm asian and have thick black hair. It looked awesome afterwards (black/white look) but it took aaaaages. I mean I was in there for pretty much an afternoon I think.
