AVT amps are really bad, in my opinion.

They aren't - it's just a myth that tone snobs have created. I think the clean channel on my AVT100 is excellent, but the distortion does sound thin. The AVT150 stack sounds much better and is a really good amp.

Anyone know how I upload youtube them so it comes up here instead of a link?

Sure.

Press the quote button and replace the word quote in the brackets with 'youtube'. On every youtube video, there is a code towards the end of the URL.

The finished product should look like (removing the stars):

[youtube*]code towards end of URL[/youtube*]

Quote a video already on here and you will get the correct formula.

That was awesome - great tone and playing, well done good sir!

Didn't recognise the Gilbert though, much to my amazement. Off United States by any chance?

Ah, never really got into GOOMY - there was so little melody it just didn't click with me. I only liked 'You Kids' - now that is top tunage!

Learn that instead :D

Hurry Up
Radiator
Rusty Old Boat
Straight through the telephone pole
Curse of Castle Dragon
Twelve Twelve

Some of his best stuff!

Aww yeh.

Nice playing.

Nice amp, bet it was a lovely price too

Thanks

£1050 :p

Jeez.

That is some extra time right there.

I'd love a nice big amp but just can't afford it. I did have a marshall tsl602 a few year back but had to sell it for rent :)

In my last band I had to use other bands amps at gigs, was slightly embarrasing, all I can offer amp wise is a hughes and kettner 15watt.. and its DUMP :)

AVT amps are really bad, in my opinion.

The guitarist in my 2nd band has got both a Fender Twin Reverb and a Marshall TSL602 and when he stands in for my 1st band he uses my AVT150 with no deterioration in quality.
You may say that perhaps he doesn't have his valve amps set up properly but I assure you when he's in his Stevie Ray Vaughan/Jimi Hendrix tribute band he sounds awesome.

The writers of GUITARIST magazine also reckon that the tone difference between valve & electronic is negligible now.
And let's not forget that if an AVT150 sounds crap then it's how it was setup.

Hurry Up - too slow and boring
Radiator - meh
Rusty Old Boat - one of the better tracks
Straight through the telephone pole - meh
Curse of Castle Dragon - this did grow on me, but I dislike the start and the solo
Twelve Twelve - As above, no melody!

Some of his best stuff!

Absolute blasphemy! It's very exciting stuff live, but it is just utterly devoid of silly Paul Gilbert personality on the CD. GOOMY is a really nerdy album - Paul belongs singing songs about girlfriends and spaceships, and that's what he should continue to do!

In all fairness, all of his albums are very hit and miss for me, but my own 'best of' selection rocks hard.
