Gear Thread - Pics

Just thinking about an EMG 81/60 upgrade in my Schecter Damien. Have never installed EMGs before having been a Duncan JB user in the past. Looking at the wiring diagrams, it looks quite daunting to be honest...Anyone had any issues or found it any more difficult then installing Passives?

Just thought I'd show you lot my newest purchase....it's a beauty! ignore my terrible photos, I'll get some better ones at a later date..and more interesting ones :p

PRS SE Torero - Black Cherry

EMG 81/85, Original Floyd Rose Tremolo, so it's pretty well specced for my playing style! ;)

Nice.

I'm getting the Akerfeldt SE next week, will post some pics of my gear once that arrives.

SE's are very nice guitars for the money. Have got a Tremonti, but have also owned a Santana II and Soapbar I.

It's a fantastic guitar, I loved it as soon as I had a quick go of the trans black one in my local guitar shop, but when he showed me the black cherry I really couldn't resist it, especially as it was freshly opened just so I could see it :D I was sold instantly!

The output from the EMGs is insane, I've got an LTD KH-602 with EMG 81's in, which being honest never impressed me, but this seems to be in a different league  my faith has been restored in EMG as I always thought they were a big let down...now I need to get round to buying a Celestion Vintage 30 for my amp! :p

It is definitely more difficult than installing passives, but not all that bad...I re-wired my Ibanez with 81/85's a few years back.

You just need to find a location for the battery, stick in new tone pots and the pickups. You do need to make sure you have a stereo input jack (if not, you'll have to buy one) and a 3 way switch rather than a 5 way (I also had to buy one of them but very cheap).

So... far more effort than it's worth to end up with a harsh, sterile sounding pickup in your guitar :D
