I've just seen this over on Neogaf...

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=807472

It's a program made by Durante, the guy that made DSfix for Dark Souls and it could be the saviour of AMD downsamplers. I've yet to try it as I'm currently at work, maybe LtMatt ccould test it? Apparently it's still got some bugs which need ironing out but anything is better than the nonexistent downsampling tools from AMD.

Here is how it works

Downsampling, better than any other solution:
Essentially no resolution limits (beyond those of the GPU)
Downsampling from more than 4x the resolution is useful (multi-stage downsampling)
Selection of downsampling methods (not just bilinear sampling)
Downsampling in linear color space
Support downsampling to high-frequency (e.g. 120 Hz or 144 Hz) target modes
Not limited by display hardware
Take screenshots of either the pre-downsampled full buffer or the actual image displayed on screen (automatically sorted in per-game folders!)
Generic texture overriding for all textures loaded using D3DX
It uses a far more solid injection and interception method than my earlier efforts

Looks very nice, just to point out though Downsampling now works on AMD I was using 1200p other week, but sadly refresh rate means much more to me than resolution.

Max I could get was 1200p 100hz but red screened, to get higher or not crash I had to bring the refresh rate right down to 60hz. So if anyone here as 120hz monitor let us know how you get on.

CRU doesn't have a patch on this by the look of it. This is what I was on about, not having to take a hit on refresh rate, so you'll be able to downsample proper 4K now without running 30HZ!

I've been using AMD's supersampling via CCC to get a similar effect, but ill give this a try once Shanks and a few others here have tried it out. Currently playing Crysis one with x4 supersampling @1440P.

I don't see an option for supersampling, where is it?

For DX9 Games use override - you can set AA manually ie x2 or x4 etc via CCC. However you can also set AA through in game and it will have the same effect.

FOr DX11 games use enhance - When using enhance the game in question needs to use in game AA otherwise it won't wok. x2 in game AA = render images at twice the resolution used for that particular pixel etc.

Supersampling makes games look stunning. Rendering the pixels at x2 - x4 - x8 that pixels resolution. Very demanding. Only advisable on crossfire or higher generally. 64 ROPS, 4gb vram and 512bit bus helps here.

I learned this from this thread, well worth a look.

Sounds interesting as nvidia down sampling has quite strict limits based on a number of things. I wonder/hope this will give 4k down sample for a number of titles.

Does nothing on my rig, have tried them all, the ones that do change the res my Monitor craps out no matter what.

R9 290
14.4
Win 8.1
LG IPS 226.

Good to know AMD are(hopefully) getting their finger out HB.

Anyone actually got this tool to work? i just tried it now on Arma 3 @ 4k, but it's still @1080P.

It only works on DX9 titles, nothing else yet(not that I could get it to work though:p), plus you have to edit the config files, add games to the whitelist too.

Was looking forward to 4K@120hz as well, as 4K is a bit ****@30Hz(to say the least) with CRU, only good for testing max settings for vram usage@4K on the 290's.;)

On Twitter someone complained CCC looked dated, Roy replayed saying he agreed and that they are already looking at it.

Perhaps AMD are finally getting around to making CCC what it should be.
