I got something very similar for free for 1 month when I bought my phone, and it was an automatically renewing monthly fee after that, needless to say I cancelled it as soon as I could

I took out a similar plan a while back when I first got my PS3. I didn't pay that much though was only £99 extra on top of my bundle plus I'm paying £19.99 a month which covers anything ranging from updates that come out to trophy syncing.
