Geforce GTX 780, 770 coming in May

Going off topic here, but you do realize that an iMac is actually about the same cost as a "PC" built with comparable parts of equal quality? this has been proven many times on this forum.

And with regards to the GTX780 overpriced is again in the eye of the beholder, IMO its on a tier above the 7970/680 so should be priced as such. its not like it isn't common for a card that stands above the rest to cost more as Titan does (The Voodoo 5 6000 was >$800 in today's money, and the MARS I/II? whoa) and the GTX780 stands closer to Titan than the 7970/680.

Indeed ! we may remember that untill revealed the GTX 780 actually was under the name GTX Titan LE ! ... which still makes me wonder why they didn't just call it that since it's so close in performance to Titan ?. It reminds me of the GeForce 3 Ti200, GeForce 3, GeForce 3 Ti500 days :)

Whether things are "overpriced" or not, in this sense is completely down to opinion.

Overpriced in a historical sense.

Esentially they have massively increased the prices you're paying for the silicon.

You could think of it as the price per mm² having increases massively.

As nVidia's Titan production costs will largely be similar to the production costs of the GTX580, despite the huge difference in pricing.

It's a number of things like this that indicate to me that nVidia didn't have a firm plan for the 7 series, and that Titan LE is something that was probably going to be before they decided on the 7 series.

In all honesty it would have been much better if they had simply kept the 670/680 names but released the higher clocked versions with a Ti affix, and called the GTX780 the Titan LE/XT/SE. Much less messing about.

But nVidia love the re-branding game, it makes old products look like new ones! :D

OcUK now have place holders in for the 770 & 780 on the store page, suggests the 760Ti etc.. will follow at a later date.

As it is now, OcUK's cheapest GTX680 is £359.99, lets see how many of those sell today if the 770 pricing is daft.

How much power are we thinking the 780 uses? I thinking about it if its at a decent price.
I have an xfx 550w, powering a i5 3570k at 4.1, ssd and hd, cd drive.

or lets see how much the 680 price jumps when the 770 pricing it daft :)

Now that is creepy, duly filed away for future ref.
A bit off topic but what the heck happened to those lush looking NVidia sli bridges that were supposed to be out in april ?

Fair point, they were really nice bridges, probably waiting until after 780 launch to insult us further.

Power consumption should be about the same as a Titan.

I've got some cash sat waiting on the highly unlikely chance we see some 780 lightning/classified (with REAL voltage control) cards
