I don't know why anyone would buy the x80 card at launch. They are released at inflated prices, We know that Nvidia will drop the price of the x80 cards when they release the x80Ti.

And I especially don't understand why people with a current x80Ti card would buy an x80 card.

If you wait a few months you will get an x80ti for nearly the same price as you bought the x80 card for.

My 1080Ti doesn’t have much issue with any game I play and the only thing I’m really looking forward too is BF5 which apparently isn’t going to be all that different to run to BF1.

May be interested if the new 35” ultrawide are reasonably priced but as I am on 1440p just not worth it and will wait until 1180Ti.

Did the price of the 1080 drop when the ti was released? I don't remember seeing any significant price drop and I was after a 1080 as well. Maybe £10-20 but nothing truly significant.

I very much doubt that the 11 series of cards will be aimed at those who have a Pascal card. Rather they will be aimed at owners of Maxwell cards like me.

It did.

I actually bought a 1080 for £530 before the 1080ti release. When the 1080 was going for £600+, most people were predicting an £800 price point for 1080ti. However, when the 1080ti released it was the 1080 that fell in price to accommodate the 1080ti at the £700 price point.

GDDR6 OC headroom will be very interesting that will put HBM2 to shame.

GTX 1170 or 1180 with possible 14 Gb GDDR6 on 256 bit bus with 448GB bandwidth, OC GDDR6 to 16 Gb would have 512GB bandwidth which matched Fury X HBM1 512GB bandwidth and faster than Vega 56 & 64's HBM2 483GB bandwidth, OC GDDR6 to 20 Gb would have 640GB bandwidth which is closer to Titan V HBM2 652.8GB bandwidth.

GV102 GTX 1185 or 1180 Ti which would replace GP102 GTX 1080 Ti will use 16 Gb GDDR6 on 384 bit bus with 768GB bandwidth, imagine OC to 20 Gb GDDR6 would achieve incredible 960GB bandwidth that will blow Titan V poor HBM2 out of water.

Yeah, there was a big price drop. $499 became the new base price instead of $599.

They want everyone to upgrade, yet not render their pro cards obsolete or give us too little reason to upgrade in future. Thus even if GDDR6 is capable of majestic things, it will also be majestically hobbled by hardware voltage limits & encrypted vBIOS.

And there is that as well. For the majority of gamers what game does the 1080Ti struggle with? Even a 1080 is plenty good in todays gaming world. Unless you are planning to go 4K gaming and even at that you are still better off to wait for the next x80ti than waste money on the x80 card.

GTX1170 with that much RAM will be £500+ meaning 1180 £650+ and ti £800+. I can't see it.

Slightly off topic, do we expect the 1160 to match the 1080?. Bases of my theory: the 1060 matches the 980 at under £250. I filul expect the 1160 to be around the £300+ mark.

Maybe, but the low end have been coming a few months after the mid/higher end have been released so I'd expect Oct-ish.

I do 4K gaming, I would grab a 1080Ti if there were any at a sensible price as there are a few games I want to play now that would need at least 1080Ti performance. Even on members market people want brand new prices.

So if I wait a month or two I can grab for the same price or less a 1180 which will likely be better than a 1080Ti in every way. The 1180Ti will likely not be for another 4-6 months after. I can’t wait that long. Been waiting for what seems forever for new tech as it is. If I knew Pascal would have lasted as long as it did I would have purchased a 1080Ti ages ago.

Sold it some months ago after completing everything I wanted to play. Plus been busy so downgraded to a 1050 and decided to wait for the new cards or a good deal on a 1080Ti, thus far neither has become available and now I am really starting to fancy playing Final Fantasy XV, but I refuse to pay silly moneys for old Pascal tech

I’ll be getting a GTX 1170. I game at 1440p and won’t be going 4K anytime soon.
