Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

Sorry. Checked it in preview and it looked ok, maybe cos I was logged into their forum where it was an attachment. Anyhow...

LOL
For those wondering it's competitizone

I worry about the whole "the drivers aren't ready yet" or "the games need optimizations" thing. This shouldn't be a rushed launch, its been over 2 years and they're under no pressure to release anything. It strikes me as weird that they wouldn't have crossed the Ts and dotted the Is before now.

That being said we don't know what's been going on behind the scenes, it may be that Volta just didn't like up to expectations so now they are super rushing to get something out in fear of slump in the market.

I don't know, this whole thing just feels unpolished.

"crossed the Ts and dotted the Is" see what he did there?

Voted best comment on the whole thread!

Well said, drivers are polished. That's just an excuse. And like you said there was no rush to release if they weren't ready. The fact is they are ready and that's what you are going to get bottom line. Sure, drivers will mature. No one is doubting that but to ignore facts presented to you in hopes that "it ain't true" is being disingenuous to yourself and to those who are just visiting the forum trying to figure out what's going on.

This is a prime example of Res Ipsa Loquitur means the thing speaks for itself.

after the [crap which no-one gives a crap about] is turned off, the 20 series is only 15% faster?! wow.

everything about this is screaming wait for 2019 and 7nm. 2180/2180ti.

i never thought i would say this ..but at this moment consoles are looking such a better buy over pc's .. shame really

Actually is something between RX470 and RX480 :)

In terms of TFLOPs its close to the RX580:

https://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/2977/xbox-one-x-gpu
https://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/2938/radeon-rx-580

However,it also has significantly more potential bandwidth to play with and also supports certain features from Vega too.

But either way if someone can't get 60FPS in this game with a GTX1080 with a recent Core i7,etc on decent settings something weird is going on IMHO.

The Vega/AMD optimisations from Xbone and PS4 (like hardware async compute) wont go down to PC unfortunately. As the title is fully supporting Gameworks on PC.
Everything has to be stripped, and Nvidia optimisations applied, including Ray Tracing.

It will run like a dog on AMD cards, but not due to fault of AMD but Nvidia

Let not forget the first Tomb Raider few years back. They took the Xbox 360 codebase, instead of the Xbone codebase strapping gameworks while getting the Nvidia money to do so.
It took them 6 months and a series of patches to make the game work on Ryzen CPUs.

Yet they were benchmark videos showing RX480 working wonders with the Ryzen CPU on this game, compared to Nvidia 1080 which performance on Ryzen tanked.
FYI Intel CPU was compared also....
