Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

Thanks for that info guys. If this is something to expect in more than a handful of games then the technical specs are less, but would outperform in FPS to last gen I would think? I am just really hoping that it all pans out better than it currently appears!

Ouch!! @Gregster there you go buddy, 4k 30FPS like you say you dont mind on a Tomb Raider game, except you can save yourself £650 and just buy the Xbone X and Game, job done :)
Nah, I will stick with the 2080Ti. I understand that it was a very raw implementation of RT and neither Eidos or NVidia had much time to play with it, so I understand the early performance hit but give it time and performance will be better.

No it isn't the logical conclusion - it is just crap. Many of the media present at the Tomb Radar demo made it very clear that they were told this was an unpolished, very early build - but most people in this thread who have one goal (to fuel negativity) completely failed to include that part in their comments. Now the devs have responded formally stating what most of the people present already stated - so there is no more confusion.

That would be great, but, the playable demos of Battlefield V weren't able to run at 60fps either at 1080p. Some of us aren't just "fueling negativity" We are trying to be critical of something that's jumped in price by 100's of dollars.

And I find it hard to believe that developers are going to make that big a difference in less than month. I am also very sceptical of developers and what they say they will do. Especially after Dx12, there were loads of developers saying they were right behind Dx12 at the conference Microsoft and Nvidia had back in 2014.

I do believe Ray Tracing is coming, but, it's going to be slow. The next generation of cards will be out before there are a meaningful number of games out.

A lot of people keep mentioning consoles, but what fun is there in that? One of the fun things about graphics cards is getting new cards and benching it vs your previous card and tinkering about etc. For me anyway. It is always fun when I get an upgrade.

With prices going up, one can just either stay one gen behind or go from say 1070 to 2070. As usual horses for courses. But this works for me. Even though I did want new tech, I have decided to got with a 1080Ti as an upgrade as I want the extra ram for 4K which the 2070 will not provide. Also it will be a bit cheaper going this route and should do the job for me until Cyberpunk 2077 comes out :)

I may get PS5 anyway when it comes out just for the exclusives and I feel it will go down well with an OLED which I will get around the same time :D

I don't have the time anymore tbh. I had a watercooled Opteron 165, gtx 7800 in sli with artic coolers back when there was genuine competition. Now when I get an hour's gaming, I just want to press start.

Yeah. Houses for courses as I said, in your position I would probably just get a console also. But the point of my post was for those who time is not the issue, but price.
