Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

Interesting that game is running Vulkan, will be interesting to see how it performs on AMD given they normally have a small advantage in Vulkan over Nvidia, will be interesting to see if NVidias closed the gap and surpassed AMD with their new hardware on board.

I find ultrawides weird to look at, had the asus 34x14 for a few days and compared to my 16:9 4k it was like looking at an elongated envelope.

Same had one for over a year and while it was enjoyable it kinda didn’t feel right in a lot of games. Hard to explain.

Gone back to 16:9 now and don’t miss it.

Until you get a 34" Ultrawide. I would hate having to go back to a normal monitor now and it just looks so sweet in game.

I did, twice lol. And I went back to 16:9 high refresh 27" :p

Who uses a 10” monitor? Also yes, high PPI is a good thing imo. Surprised anyone disagrees with this on a graphics card forum tbh.

Maybe you guys cannot see the difference or appreciate it, but I can. To call it daft and make pointless comparisons is just silly.

Don't blow a gasket. Most people would agree that 4K at 27" is not all that noticeable. Perhaps a better way of saying it is it's not fully realised. Far better at 34-40". Throwing performance away to look through a letterbox.

Exactly the same here.

I have G-Sync and don't think it's pointless or a waste of money, so if it *is* "like that", it's certainly not with me.

I have seen a few people over the years on here saying they have tried G-Sync/Freesync and don't see a difference. Some people even advising to go with Nvidia cards when the op had a Freesync monitor. I wouldn't go back and knew straight away my next monitor would be a VRR monitor as playing on my mates and then coming back to my normal tn was night and day bad for me.

Depends on the game, for me. I liked playing TW on an UW the time I got to try it out - very cinematic feel to it. But I hated it for first person games. Guessing that was down to it being so far from our natural field of view.

I would imagine these 3440x1440 monitors also support a 1440p output with black side bands?

That could't do more than 1420 on the core? Because that beat a 2ghz 1070. I remember seeing pauls hardware doing a video on it when i was fed up of seeing all reviews spewing the same thing. He took a reference 980ti overclocked it to 1420 on the core and a 1070 MSI twin frozr AIB card and clocked it to just over 2ghz and the 980ti won in most games he tested except one where the 1070 was on par.
That's just one card though. I was meaning people who posted on here saying they couldn't overclok their card very well but as I said they are generally regarded as good clockers.

The reason I didn't buy one was because they were more expensive than a 1070 which had similar performance, more memory, better dx12 and used less power hence lower temps and quieter. When they dropped in price they became a bargain though.

So, every single launch, I see people complaining about the price (happened with Vega happened with the 10xx cards and so on and so on). But genuinely this feels different. There are SCORES more people saying it, and genuinely seeming committed to it.

Do you think Nvidia will struggle to shift the volume they were hoping? First round of price drops soon after launch?
