Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

So, every single launch, I see people complaining about the price (happened with Vega happened with the 10xx cards and so on and so on). But genuinely this feels different. There are SCORES more people saying it, and genuinely seeming committed to it.

Do you think Nvidia will struggle to shift the volume they were hoping? First round of price drops soon after launch?

Newegg USA completely sold out, Nvidia USA and UK sold out, share price at all time high today and been climbing all week....Yeah, Nvidia are really struggling...

*actually Their share price was higher in June.
"SOLD OUT" means absolutely nothing because we have no idea what the stock levels were. Potentially a handful of cards. To test the water.
And I didn't suggest Nvidia were struggling. AND their share price is not determined entirely by gamers. They have huge AI interests and other projects.

Many of those orders will be from corporate customers who will be using the cards for things other than gaming.

I'm willing to bet the pool of private people pre-ordering just for gaming is getting smaller and smaller every time they jack up the prices.

What are you on about? My last post before that was a video reviewing raytracing, because I think RT looks good.
I simply said this launch feels different in the amount of people saying they won't buy at that price. I'm wondering if they will drop the price.
Hardly "overly negative" is it. Just discussion.

Ray tracing does look good, and it has done for a decade. It just hasn't been viable in real time and has been out of reach of gamers. Judging by the leaked FPS figures with ray tracing enabled and the prices of the new cards, that hasn't changed lol. Maybe a good first step though; it'll be interesting to see where ray tracing is in 3 years.

Some of the stuff with RTX on didn't seem that much better. Particularly the Shadow of the tomb raider stuff.

It's guessing its because the graphic settings are at the lowest quality to allow playable frame rates when you turn on Ray Tracing. It will probably improve before launch.

Don't blow a gasket. Most people would agree that 4K at 27" is not all that noticeable. Perhaps a better way of saying it is it's not fully realised. Far better at 34-40". Throwing performance away to look through a letterbox.
Lol. Just having a friendly chat mate, no gaskets being blown here ;):D

32" 2160P = 137.68 PPI
27" 2160P = 163.18 PPI

That is close to 20% increase in density.

With monitors it is more subjective and down to personal tastes. I am not concerned with what most people say. Higher PPI is better, it is not throwing performance away as far as I am concerned ;)

so everyones wrong about it being Gimpworks, and proprietary, as its going to be for everyone, if its part of the DX spec, so when Intel come in, they'll be able to use it too.

To be honest I think the pricing and responses around that has clouded peoples judgement.
As predicted the sentiment seems to be changing somewhat now too, already.
