Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

Here's a thought: Will there actually be any GTX 20xx cards any time soon? Considering the prices, it seems like nVidia are positioning the new RTX cards as a new tier rather than replacement cards, in which case is there any room for GTX 2060 and below? Will they just stick with the existing cards for now instead?

Will be quite a few people who see the higher card number and just assume 20 is better than 10 and will buy on that basis so yeah I think there is room

Word is the 2080ti is the direct in line replacement for the Titan-XP, Nvidia aren't going to be making Titan branded cards aimed at gamers anymore they will only be prosumer ones now like the Titan-V (hence why they dropped the Geforce name from the Titan).
Dont tell them the obvious situation

Makes sense tbf and segments their line-up nicely :)

So does this mean the 2080 will beat the 1080Ti by a good margin? example 20%

The 1080Ti's are over £700 still and 2080's £800.

I am in the midst of selling my 1080Ti due to not gaming as much anymore and wondering if it's the right decision for me.

Levelcapgaming said he was seeing about 60-70 fps at 1080p with raytracing enabled, the footage he posted looked less to me.

Considering 2080Ti will do 144hz maxed 1440p without RTX. Seems like a feature not many will use if it’s only capable of 1080p under 100 frames with RTX enabled.

I was going to do a Duke Nukem Forever 'RTX on / off comparison' with that scene in the toilet looking in the mirror where Duke can err... play with poo... One half of the poo was going to be shiny where the screen splits. Anyone with Photoshop skills and time on their hands willing to make my dream become reality?

I suppose we will know when we get there. Depends if the increase in visual fidelity is worth playing upscaled with the decrease in resolution. I suspect not, but some of the implementations look very impressive.

Don’t get me wrong I think RTX does look pretty damn good in the games shown. BFV looks quite spectacular.

However at such a loss to performance?. Leaves me quite underwhelmed a I would much prefer 1440p 165hz than any kind of 1080p at less than 100 frames.

Defeats the point of RTX for me anyway. Although hopefully things will change as release day comes.

I heard next summer. But they are only going to be 30hz initially!

It feels faster if you look through your fingers and wave really really really fast. Gigglerays for the win #BSforTheGame

Exactly, it just does not look market ready, at least for gamers. With a 1080Ti and 1,886 games in my Steam library, I should be all over a 2080Ti, yet I am waiting until the tech is ready.
