Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

I know I bought two at £1049 because well I wanted too and could, but truly they are not worth £1400 and it’s pretty disappointing to see them priced that way...

Bizarrely cheaper to get one with £150 worth of custom block and backplate than it is a custom AIB card.

You can still preorder cards for £1199 (Msi gaming trio) and £1099 for the gigabyte elsewhere so why ocuk have them priced so high is just crazy.

I'm guessing low supplies so only need a slow burn on sales. I don't complain about pricing but I personally would not spend £300 more for cheap looking strap-on cooler :). Fair dues at £1049 and if people really want one atm then the current price is what they have to pay :).

Are you trying Sli? Would be good to hear how well the new NVlink works although I'm sure that#s WIP at the moment but hopefully will work well in future

Brace yourselves for some gobsmacking news, was reading the features of an evga 2080ti and one really stuck out as being a game changer.

  • First Ever Hydro Dynamic Bearing (HDB) VGA Fans Offer Lower Noise and Longer Lifespan
  • New Trim to Customize Your Card
  • New Fan Blades, Rotation Direction and Hub Designed for Quiet and Efficient Operation
  • EVGA Precision X1 Software Gives You New Way to Overclock
  • New Premium Box Design

Now I'm sold!!!!!11111:eek:

It’s gonna be a long wait for a FE Ti. :(

Unless AIB’s come down in price once stock stabilises then I’m just going to wait for Nvidia to sort themselves out and get a FE.

Like £1100 isn’t too much already. #### paying £300-400 more to get one next week.

Especially after seeing the preorder price, leaves a sour taste in the mouth to say the least.

You've got to wonder about the resale value of a £1,400 card. By the time upgrades are available, 1080ti will be selling second hand for what, £250? How much more would a prospective buyer want to go for a 2080ti? Even at double the price (£500) that's a £900 hit.

Could we see the first case of negative equity for GPU owners? OcUK gonna have to start a help to buy scheme :p

Or offer CBT therapy to help with post hype 2080ti ownership.

Indeed. It's the power limit which renders WC'ing utterly pointless on the 20xx series. It's only worth doing if you desire a super quiet build, so it simply comes down to a question of whether that's worth the extra to someone or not, because a quieter GPU is ALL they will be getting.

I've seen the question raised as to why Nvidia have limited the power as much as they have, given it's not at all necessary, and it certainly raises an eyebrow. They've gimped it, which is even more bizarre in light of their "built for overclocking" claims. It makes no sense.

Jensen gestures mysteriously with his hand in the air...

"You don't need to overclock RTX...it just works"

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080/RTX 2080 Ti: Ethereum Mining Results

Read more: https://www.tweaktown.com/articles/...tx-2080-ti-ethereum-mining-results/index.html

Impressive results for Turing with Claymore version not fully optimised for Turing yet. Cant wait to see future versions we could see RTX 2080 Ti get 80+MH/s.

HBM2 are absolutely very expensive and now official worthless for mining.

Looks pretty poor, a 1080ti can get 55+ MH/s. The writer of that article obviously isn't an experienced miner. :P

Given the tiny number of cards and the high cost I can't see much effect being made to optimise the 20 series mining performance.

Once the stocks of 1080Ti's are gone I see the 2080 going up in price dramatically so unless AMD are going drop a highly competitive card these are what GPU's are going to priced at because why make money when you can make all the money and kill off PC gaming while you're at it.
