Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

980Ti to 1080Ti was a process change. Without process change (12nm is just marketing) it's nearly impossible to have such an increase. We're slowly reaching the end of process changes with times between processes growing and growing. In 5 years you'll be happy to get 30% from a new gen. Can't beat physics.

I’m happy with 30% for same equivalent price as last gen when inflation taken into account.

Well I have had some good gaming time on my Zotac 2080Ti AMP and very impressed thus far. Games run at 3440x1440 with everything set to max that I have tried and the most staunch titles I have are sitting at very capable frames. Time to stop playing and start recording for my review. Very happy with the purchase :)

Thats all i need to hear. I'm upgrading from a 980ti classified @ 3440x1440.
Good buy as far as I'm concerned......just need for it to be made.

Me too, I couldn't be happier with my 2080 Ti.

Nice one. Stock is the killer and I really wanted the MSI Gaming X trio but my impatience kicked in and I got the Zotac AMP for the same price with some good haggling :D (£1150). Very happy with the card and temps not going over 62c, which is pretty awesome. I am sure when I OC properly, they will rise but well happy so far and clocks sitting at ~1875-1925Mhz without any overclock and 1975-2150Mhz with the one touch OC scanner. Plus Zotac comes with a 5 year warranty, which will help when I come to upgrade and sell.

I have to ask are you running the fans at maximum or just auto (and if auto, around what RPM are the fans running at)?

I received a 2080 Ti Gaming X Trio yesterday and under load (after temperatures settle) it's always at 79C which seems quite a bit more than what the reviews suggested. GPU fans are at around 1500-1750RPM depending on load while most reviews had it at 1400RPM (and at around 68-73C, not 79C). My clocks seem to be in the 1890-1930MHz range so that's at least in the same ball park with what the reviews suggested for default settings before overclocking.

So I'm wondering if my cooler is just badly mounted or thermal paste isn't quite right, or if this is just a typical scenario with a more quiet (Fractal R5) case. I should have pretty decent air flow and the 1080 Ti Gaming X I had previously wasn't running anywhere near these temperatures.

Mine is with a 1:1 fan profile, which is fairly quiet but audible. Temps for yours were topping out at 71c from the reviews I see but they are generally best cases by using a test bench.
