General Courier Moans Thread

Sent a parcel out (ebay order, sent by Evri) and has been delivered back to me with "SENDER" printed on the label. Does anyone know if customers can just go into the tracking and cancel the order before delivery or would Evri have done this themselves due to some delivery issue? I'm guessing not but just want to be sure before I tell them I'm going to attempt to send it again.

All it says is "Return to sender requested" then "Delay due to address access" in the tracking.

Code:
1 Nov 2023 9:13am - Due to be delivered today

31 Oct 2023 1:26pm - Delay due to address access <-----------

31 Oct 2023 1:26pm - Return to sender requested <-----------

31 Oct 2023 9:56am - Delay - please allow 24 hours

31 Oct 2023 7:07am - On its way to the courier

30 Oct 2023 9:46pm - At the customers local depot

30 Oct 2023 7:21pm - Entered the Hermes network

Evri tracking on their website isn't much help either and just says "We're sorry, your parcel has been delayed. We're working to get it on its way on the next working day and we'll let you know once it's out for delivery".

Likely poor address writing (smeared ink), or hard to find address. Driver has just tried to dodge the delivery. Perhaps even too big or heavy. Even the likes of DPD's decent tracking i've not heard of cancelled deliveries.

Mate sent me a parcel via RM tracked 24. I requested and got notification to confirm to deliver to post office. They attempted delivery at my house, no card left, but email to say missed delivery and would try again today.

Again i requested post office which again had confirmation. Tracking now saying i can reschedule but new email just says a one liner of delivered, no picture, no link, no address.

My guess is the chap next door has it. Annoying as he's took in 2 other parcels this week due to poor tracking not allowing me to change delivery days. Neighbour is sound, but not the point.

My turn for a moan

Ordered something and estimated delivery was set to Monday (20th). Great, a day I'm home all day anyway.

However I got an email this morning whilst out this morning

So they notified me at 1031 for a delivery that was possible to happen 18 minutes prior & when I got home there was a card stating that delivery was attempted at 1026. 5 minutes before telling me a delivery was going to take place.

I'm not sure if this is a delivery issue or a lying shop*.

I pre-ordered from GAME the new playstation portal device in October that was due to become available on the 15th of November.

On the 14th GAME said they had shipped the order for next day delivery, which cost me £4.99. I didn't know they were using Evri.

On the 15th I looked at the tracking number for Evri, which said they were waiting for the parcel from GAME.

It's the 18th today and that status hasn't changed.

*I'm not sure if GAME as lied because I contacted them via Twitter. The guy was bluffing me, and when I asked him if GAME had sent the item he didn't respond. That was last night. He still hasn't responded.

I don't know why these companies can be honest with the people they are there to serve. I'd rather see accurate information and wait than be lied to and not know when my purchase will arrive.

Generally speaking for it to be registered with Evri the label will have been created, so therefore stock would have already been allocated. There's always a chance of a miss scan, but not far from the imagination it's been stolen, which is their version of lost. Game are struggling i expect so no surprise they'd use the cheapest courier.

I stupidly used DPD due to evris slow pickup time.
DPD are even worse. Paid for a 1 day service. It's still at the post office 3 days later.

I popped in today to check. It hadn't been stolen and the pile was high. Staff were not impressed as they are now an evri, dpd and RM hub. The woman said she's going to have a right go at DPD as it is supposed to be daily collections

Looked like chaos in there

Said DPD had been dropping off but collected nothing!

Some shops should never signed up to be a courier pick up place. A few months ago, my Dad ordered something for the car. Was given an e-mail saying it would be delivered on X date. They tried to deliver it 2 days before when both my parents were out. Parcel was taken to a general shop come newsagents. They are a pick up place for 2 couriers and the parcels were everywhere and all mixed up.

I have requested parcels to be sent other shops in the area and were more organised. One shop had two lockable shelving units with a roller blind at the front. Showed them my barcode on the e-mail, scanned it and within 40 seconds, they got it.

This is an eBay sale, so understandably the buyer is getting agitated.

This isn't the first issue I have had with DPD. And I certainly won't be using them again.

I usually use UPS but because of the location at the post office (next to the supermarket) it seemed handy. Wish I had used UPS instead.

I'll be having a rant on the phone to DPD if I can find a number. Not impressed.

Evri said 1500 to 1700...

23:20 and I have to get out my bed to take the delivery... never ever had a delivery at that time, not even takeaway.

Worst ever delivery I have had in a long long time.
We have similar with evri. Missed delivery windows with post 9pm deliveries almost every single time. If it gets towards 10 he just leaves it on the doorstep overnight.

Typically the item that I needed for tonight didn’t come at all yesterday and today it has now said it will be delayed until Monday, excellent.

As of interest with those with DPD issues, how far is the depot from you? Never had a problem with DPD and the depot is 5-6 miles away.

Yet don't understand how their delivery routes work. Last month, I checked what number drop I was on the courier's route. I was something like 110 and was tracker showing van down the next road and was drop 34!

Ups and dpd are about 5 miles from my house too. Usually if just take it there. And use UPS.

I'll be using UPS going forward now. This makes no sense. I'll be down the post office tomorrow and I've raised a ticket today.

I'll ask the staff to show me the parcel make sure its not been pinched or something.

Well. I'll be going down the post office tomorrow. I'm not sure if they'll let me. But I'm going to ask for my parcel back. If it's even there. Day 4 and no sign of any movement.

I've had a rant at the courier. But yet to recieve a followup.

At this rate the buyer is going to want a refund. And I don't blame them at all.

Anyone know if you can in anyway get a parcel back once it's in the system?

If I can get it back I'll resend by UPS and take it down the depot.

Highly unlikely these days with GPS delivery tracking. There's a possibility however if you go down to the hub where it's located, they have a service point and the person there cares, and you have I.D and access to the email. But i still doubt it with DPD.

I doubt it too. Even just knowing it's still there would be something.
Beginning to think it's been stolen. Only way that could really happen is one of the post office staff. Or another courier picked it up by mistake/on purpose. Seems unlikely.

Hopefully it's just dire service.

Sorry i read your post wrong, thought you meant the DPD hub. If the PO is the dispatch point, you have the receipt and I.D, then worth a try if it's still there. Depends how their system works in relation to hand overs i guess. Might be a manual cancellation possible.

DPD are 7 day working week, so get down there first thing if possible.
