German Grand Prix 2010, Hockenheimring Circuit - Race 11/19

He is isn't he? Sounds extremely knowledgeable too.

He sounds welsh when he gets excited... He's a proper fan (like all the drivers) but is very good at explaining the bits that are interesting for the viewer and can answer the more trivia style questions like whats your favourite race without trying to be diplomatic or rambling :)

Not only is he very knowledgeable, but really, he's a damn good commentator, just listening to how he covered the end of that lap from vettel..

Would certainly like to hear more of him commentating.

Indeed, it could easily be pure skill that gets Jenson the win, then you would find some other excuse no doubt!!

I'd be surprised if Jenson doesn't win another race, actually. And I expect him to do it on merit. He's sitting in one of the best cars on the grid, and while he's not quite as good a driver as Hamilton he's still an exceptional talent. I just don't buy the tyre choice genius line on the basis of one entirely lucky punt (to get out of a bad situation he'd put himself in by wrecking his inters) and one level headed gamble that came off.

BBC should buy out Chandhok's contract if he doesn't get back in the car. Replace Legard with him. He's been really very good in the commentary box today.

Chandhok really was good in the commentary, as good as if not better than Davidson I thought.

Hamilton looked good at the end, Alonso looks quick too, I think it is those two plus the Red Bulls for pole position.

Apparently he had problems with the rear wing.

aparently the team has problems with the new rear wing.

i guess they are using schumacher as a guinea pig for testing again rather than letting him find a nice setup.

expect poor performance in qualifying again
nice one ross brawn your a genius:rolleyes:

Ferrari seem to have the pace this weekend to join the party - and nice to see schumi almost matching his team mate.

The first was complete 100% luck. He only came in because he'd destroyed his tyres and been humiliatingly passed by his teammate. He only took the gamble on his tyres because he'd shot the race otherwise.

The second time I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. It was a good call but, again, he was lucky in how well it came off.

Still can't see him lucking into a win like that a third time this season.

I think button's style serves him quite well when switching to slicks or intermediates early. Hamiltons style serves him well when wrestling a badly handling car round the track.

Hamilton gets to shine more often for obvious reasons.

I'd be surprised if Jenson doesn't win another race, actually. And I expect him to do it on merit. He's sitting in one of the best cars on the grid, and while he's not quite as good a driver as Hamilton he's still an exceptional talent. Remember of course if Vettel hadnt taken Webber out, JB would still have more wins than Hamilton - so LH isnt exactly without luck either

I think the big decider this weekend will be rain.

If it rains then any of the top teams (except for RBR) have a good chance of winning. If it is bone dry then I can't see anything other than an RBR win.

One thing to note though, is that for whatever reason, RBR consistently mess up, even though they have the best car...this will give hope to all the other cars on the grid.

McLaren will continue to develop their new rear end, and I'm 99% sure that they will run the revised rear end from here on in. I think the only reason they didnt do so at the previous GP was because it was the British GP and there was too much pressure for them to get a good result. This is why they used their old car. This race has no such problems, so we shall see them use their new car and develop it.

Ferrari will now have a very fast car and we can fully expect Alonso to be a factor from here on in. It wouldn't surprise me if Alonso finishes up as the top scorer for the 2nd half of the season. My feeling is that Alonso had one of the fastest cars at Silverstone, but due to circumstances, was unable to show his true pace. Although, did he not put up the fastest lap time of the race...someone correct me if I'm wrong?

Predictions:
Dry race:
1. RBR car
2. Hamilton
3. RBR car or Alonso

Wet Race:
1. Button
2. Alonso
3. RBR car or Hamilton

At some point, the balance of power has to shift: I can't believe that RBR can maintain such a big advantage over their rivals who are spending huge amounts to close down the gap. McLaren and Ferrari should thank their lucky stars that RBR do not have top of the line drivers (well, they have one, but he suffered with such wretched luck this season, you have to wonder what he has to do to win this year's title) and RBR seem unable to prevent Webber from racing against Vettel. If RBR could somehow tell Webber to never challenge Vettel, RBR could get a guaranteed championship for Vettel. At present Webber is taking points away from Vettel and this must have RBR's bosses pulling their hair out.
