German Grand Prix 2010, Hockenheimring Circuit - Race 11/19

If it is bone dry then I can't see anything other than an RBR win.
...is that for whatever reason, RBR consistently mess up, even though they have the best car...
There's you reason Red Bull might not win.

Although, did he not put up the fastest lap time of the race...someone correct me if I'm wrong?
He did, but it was on the last two laps when he had a light car and after he'd changed tyres. No one else had as good rubber with such a light car.

...Webber from racing against Vettel. If RBR could somehow tell Webber to never challenge Vettel, RBR could get a guaranteed championship for Vettel. At present Webber is taking points away from Vettel and this must have RBR's bosses pulling their hair out.
Or maybe Webber's better (leading the points) and will win this year's championship! :)

At some point, the balance of power has to shift: I can't believe that RBR can maintain such a big advantage over their rivals who are spending huge amounts to close down the gap.

Red Bull are hardly short of spending power themselves. With their cheaper driver line up, they're pretty much matching McLaren this season and are not far off Ferrari.

I see.

:D

If memory serves me correctly, Webber hasnt had any bad "luck" this year, so far.

Alonso (while running 2nd), Hamilton (while running 2nd) and (especially) Vettel (while running 1st, twice) have all suffered DNFs, losing big points in the process.

Had Vettel not had the bad luck and broken down while leading 2 races, his points total would've been 50 points higher and he would've been comfortably leading the championship. This is why I believe Vettel is the right man for RBR to support.

Unfortunately for RBR, it is difficult for them to now issue team orders to Webber, because the spotlight is so intensely focused on them. They are taking a serious battering in the PR stakes. One chain of thought could be to lay down the law to Webber - he either follows team orders or they bring in someone else who will be happy to tow-the-line, in what happens to be the best car in F1.

I can totally understand RBR's frustration with Webber and I can also see why Webber isn't backing down. Webber's sudden improvment this year has caused and is continuing to cause, a serious problem for RBR. How crazy is that?

You know me to well :D
As for RB...well I think vettel will try to hard and get angry again and spin off.

:p

If there's rain in the air then really he should cruise it, but this is the 2010 Vettel, the car-wrecking, team-mate angering plonker.

He is isn't he? Sounds extremely knowledgeable too.

He sounds like a top bloke, was great listening to him earlier. Very knowledgable and sounds like a right laugh :)

Realy don't know what to Predict for qually or the race. Today was a big shake up IMO, Ferrari showing some strength

Then again, Mercedes appear to have stepped forth aswell.

Shall be interesting to see how Lewis & Jenson get on tommorow in qualifying. Lewis did some cracking laps once his car was 'rebuilt' :p

The problem with using today's practise sessions as a guide to performance, is that today's sessions were held in either rain or in very damp conditions.

Providing the race isn't held in similar conditions, I think we can assume that today's times count for little.

It would be logical to expect Ferrari to be moving forward now, because they had their big upgrade a few races ago, so the negative effects of that will have worn off, but we shall just have to wait and see what happens on Saturday/Sunday.

Does anybody know if/when RedBull have a major upgrade, up coming?

Would have to agree with sunama, the conditions were awful for us to see a good candidate for qualifying/race, no surprises if Red Bull finish top though.

Watched free practice today and didn't hear anything, I also follow various people on Twitter/FB and there was no major news there unlike Mclarens.

However, I'm sure they are constantly updating there car with little things, maybe we'll find out tomorrow ^_^

Indeed. What I'm hoping for is that RedBull will bring in a new update, take a step backwards (which is quite normal), at which point we shall see a turning point to the season.

If RedBull keep making incremental updates, I can't see how they are going to be caught.

The best chance that McLaren/Ferrari have is if RedBull do a big update.

The problem with McLaren is that they are relying on the RBR taking points away from eachother, making mistakes or breaking down - this is a very dangerous strategy to base your season on. Ideally, McLaren/Ferrari must beat the RBR on merit...something which hasnt happened yet.

It is quite possible that Vettel could win every remaining race of the season and this is something that RBR's rivals have to be weary about.

According to those figures, Mercedes GP have the 2nd highest budget in F1 (after Ferrari).

I think they're pretty reliable, the source is decent and they match reasonably with other figures I've seen. Red Bull have upped their investment, whilst Mercedes have taken their considerable spending power from McLaren and given it to Mercedes. Mercedes GP are struggling not because they have no money this year, but because this money wasn't available to them to develop this year's car last year. I expect them to return to the front of the grid next season.
