German Grand Prix 2010, Hockenheimring Circuit - Race 11/19

Button is keeping up, but is gradually being dropped by Hamilton. Hamilton is consistently finishing ahead of Button on dry tracks.

Button was the faster of the two at Germany - first race where that could be said (wet or dry tbh).

Getting bunched up behind Vettel's disasterous start didn't do anything for his placing though.

Hang on... Just checked the rumoured date of the WMSC extraordinary meeting... September 10th.

Free Practice Friday of the Italian Grand Prix.

Extra security on call for that one.

Indeed. Guess you were wrong when you once said Hamilton would destroy Button if they ever got paired at McLaren, huh?

At the time I said that...yes I believed Button would get destroyed as there were too many things going against him. As it stands he is doing a pretty good job, backing Hamilton, consistently finishing close to him.

This is why I really couldn't care less if my pre-season prediction post doesn't bear any resemblence to the final points tally. Because no matter how far off I am, I'll never be further off than you've been in the past!

LOL You are already softening things up, just in case your man doesnt win the title :p

FWIW I like stand behind my predictions until I am proved wrong. The only prediction I made which I would like to change is MSc finishing ahead of Rosberg in this year's WDC. MSc is a mere shadow of his former self, regardless of what he tells the press.

My prediction of Alonso winning this year's title, with Hamilton 2nd, still stands. If I could revise that prediction I would, but I am happy to run with it.

Long time left in the season mate. Anything can happen yet.

Apart from Yamamoto winning the title, of course. That one can't happen.

:)

Interesting..

I just rewatched the Australia 2010 race edit on the F1 website... it has the following interesting quote in it:

Smeadly: "Felipe, Fernando is faster than you. Come on, pick up the pace."

It sounds like Ferrari have been giving Massa the "hurry up" since the early season.

This happens all the time, amongst team-mates and engineers. No big deal.

The key difference in Germany was the deliberate (slow) speed with which Smedley said, "Fernando...is...faster...than...you...". He then went on to ask if Massa had heard the message. He then later apologised to Massa.

However, I have no doubt that if you picked up on this (Australia) conversation, then Ferrari will also use this as an example to show that they routinely let their drivers know if the other driver is going faster and that the message issued in Germany is routine and was not not a coded message.

I know sunama :) I just thought it was interesting and adds insight to the whole thought process that Ferrari collectively were going through.

The similarity of the wording that Smeadley used is what makes it interesting.

They have been giving him the hurry up in every race this year, because he's slow.

At no point though has he moved aside for alonso, which is good evidence for ferrari to use. They gave a similar message to him many times this year and this time he chose to move aside.

They could use that as evidence it wasn't a team order.

How can Massa deny he is a number 2 driver now?

He could have won that race yet he pulled over. Thats set the presidence for his season and now he has to live with that.

Alonso is so full of it as well, saying they did what was right for the team, what a joke. He would never have moved aside if it had been the other way around. Total hypocrite.
