German Grand Prix 2010, Hockenheimring Circuit - Race 11/19

Just hoping mclaren can get back on track as it were this weekend, the german gp was pretty much the only real testing hamilton had with the EBD so with a bit of luck more knowledge of the set-up will get them closer.

Also to note, despite red bull and ferrari being easily faster for the past 3 races hamilton has actually extended his lead.

Thats a good spot.

I think Hamilton has taken a leaf out of Button's book - no need to go out and try and win every race...just keep racking up the points, even if you finish out of the top 3 positions.

... i swear if Massa was in a peddle car Alonso would follow him around and 2 mph claiming it's too dangerous to overtake.

Alonso has overtaken Massa this year, but he did it while coming into the pitlane. He was VERY aggressive about it.

After that move, Massa was not happy, so it is possible that after that move, Ferrari told him not to take such big risks as far as his team mate is concerned. If he has been told this then this would explain why he is not aggressive when following behind Massa.

Personally, I think discussions did take place (behind closed doors) and may be the reason why we don't see Alonso chop Massa up.

I don't think he has learnt it from Button. I think Hamilton is just in that perfect zone now where he knows he's already won a WDC, he knows people respect him and that he feels he has nothing left to prove. Which has had the effect of calming him down a bit and to just race naturally without overdriving or pressuring himself.

It's more that he just hasn't had any choice for the last few races. He's been in a decent position but with faster cars in front and little chance of passing them he's been scroing nice quiet points.

He has certainly matured as a driver since 2008 mind you. I would put that down to being in a crap car last year as much as to his WDC though.

I don't think he's that kind of person though. He'll always push to the maximum regardless of race position, trying to find that extra little bit. Watching the Senna piece on Top Gear the other night made me think actually, there's only one person in terms of racing ability that really comes close to Senna's style in that he pushes to the maximum (and usually a bit more) and is truly ruthless on the track, and that admittely is Hamilton.

Qualifying, however, he has to work on :p

My thoughts exactly.

I wonder though if he really can challenge MSc's 7 world title record. 2 years ago, I thought he could; but now...I'm not so sure.

Not only Hamilton is agressive, at the start of the German GP I though Vettel would drive the Ferrari into the wall and I still remember the agressive move against Webber that took himself out and then blamed Webber.

Its only from the front view you can see how far across they went! No wonder Massa (and almost Button) got by.

Vettel concentrated far too much on Alonso. Obviously in his head, he had decided that Alonso was the big threat - not Massa - and that if he could nail Alonso, he would stand the best chance of entering the first corner, in the lead.

He clearly didnt reckon on Massa getting a great start.

The on board shot from Massa's car was comical.

Almost like a "hello? where'd you guys go?".. they just parted ways and he floored it.

EDIT: Where can I find information regarding the flexi wing saga?

Hamilton's no Senna or Schumacher - even Button's keeping up!

Button is similar to Prost. When Senna and Prost drove for McLaren, they won 1 title each. Senna was never able to "destroy" Prost.

Button is keeping up, but is gradually being dropped by Hamilton. Hamilton is consistently finishing ahead of Button on dry tracks.

Button has shown this season that he is no mug and as such Hamilton isnt able to do to Button what he did to Heikki. Based on what we are seeing it is fair to say that any driver would struggle to "destroy" Button.

Indeed. Guess you were wrong when you once said Hamilton would destroy Button if they ever got paired at McLaren, huh?

I would LOVE to see him at McLaren immediately...if only to see Hamilton humiliate him, just as he did to Heikki this year.

:D

This is why I really couldn't care less if my pre-season prediction post doesn't bear any resemblence to the final points tally. Because no matter how far off I am, I'll never be further off than you've been in the past!

Where has Rypt gone too, didn't he predict that Ferrari would not win a single race this season?
