German Grand Prix 2013, Nürburgring - Race 9/19

The wheel should always be left attached to the car, unless it is unsafe to do so.

If they retire with a general mechanical failure on track, they have to refit the wheel as it makes it easier to move the car out of the way.

If they don't it's a €10,000 fine iirc.

This is what I thought, and although he needed to get out fast, by the time he was out, there was no fire.

Fairly sure the camera man would have signed something declaring motor sport is dangerous etc.

*sigh* this lapped car rule is just a waste of time.

Yep. Mark was at the back. The rules designed to stop lapped cars causing issue in the middle of the pack, but we are just wasting time waiting for Webber to go from the back of the pack to the back of the pack.

Utterly retarded.

Am I right in saying he has to drive from the back, overtake all of the cars and join at the back again? Why not just give him the lap back and leave him where he is?

Wouldn't it just be better to make the lapped cars drop to the back of the pack rather than have to drive round the whole circuit to catch up?

I know they wouldn't get the lap back but why do they deserve to get a free lap anyway?
