German Grand Prix 2014, Hockenheim - Race 10/19

people on twitter etc. Also saying to crofty that lewis was driving too aggressively today and even "wrecklessly". #justsayin

I don't understand why Hamilton was so aggressive tbh..
WTF!
what utter nonesense, its racing! have you all been so softened by years of processions that you whinge when a driver is "aggressive", :eek:wow how pathetic!
Nobody crashed, nobody even remotely hurt, hardly even an incident, they touched.

In Lewis' post race interview he apologised and said he hoped he hadn't ruined Jenson's race. Does seem a tad weird to be honest as it just seemed a bit 'clumsy' from Jenson. Usually he doesn't bother fighting the inevitable passes too much.

Still, good race with some interesting passes. I did have to laugh at kimi being beaten up repeatedly :)

Bottas and Riciardo are definitely looking that future WDC candidates.

Apparently those wobbly plastic Santander logo trophies cost... £140'000 each!

What the actual fornication?

Money well spent... give them the trophy and the only real reaction to it is "where's the proper trophy", also "it's falling apart already".

I mean, am I missing something, is it made of some kind of precious material, it looks like red plastic basically.

It looks like injection molded plastic, the same as Silverstone, by the looks of it they got a 'job lot' in so they could have easily got a discount.. ;)

When he fails to win the Championship, at least all you LH fans can go to bed pointing the finger at Button lol

Brundle is a complete moron, the only people doing the number of laps on a set of tires that would have allowed Hamilton to two stop were going painfully, painfully slowly. Brundle decided that damaged front wing meant 3 stop instead of 2 stop.... nonsense. THe Merc in multiple races has gotten stuck behind the Williams in normal conditions(new tyre, old tyre, undamaged car, high/low temps), fact is Hamilton was going to struggle to pass Bottas in a drag race. he could be massively faster in the sections with more corners but the passing down the straight was impossible.

Hamilton was destined for third from the second Massa went out... that is where he ended up. They were hoping going longer in the first stint would help the next sets of tires both with life span and speed on lower fuel but it simply was never going to work at the pace he was going. Button has exactly zero effect on his race.

I agree with the comments about safety car. Yes I'm a LH fan, but both the parked Sauber and the fiery Renault engine would have warranted a safety car in my book.

Oh jensons fault ok... looked to me like lewis clipped more cars than just jensons today but as usual the messiah will be hailed for driving an exceptional race with a car a second quicker than anyone else. Impressive stuff.

Don't have to be bitter because your boyfriend Button is a midfield also-ran in a crap car.

I don't think the Renault on fire would have helped hamilton in the slightest.

Vettel had just pitted on fresh tires and had there been several laps it would mean gradually warming up new tires under the SC and cruising for say 5 laps. He would have been able to go to the end after that but Hamilton had put on the first set of super softs and hammered the crap out of them expecting to only do 13 laps. Even with 5 laps cruising under safety car his tires would have been rubbish by the end and it's likely he'd have lost places. Basically he'd be one of the only cars who was uber slow at the end or would need to pit again, other guys like Vettel would have gained from that.

From the Sauber and a safety, having his fresh pace straight off with cars close he may have got some. But as above, don't forget that on fresh tires the Merc's have struggled against the Williams because they have that last years Hulkenberg combination, decent traction out of corners and high top speed. The Merc closed on it through a series of corners but Williams pulled away down basically every straight while on slower/more worn tires. Would have given Hamilton a better shot for sure, but

That Williams is just damn damn hard to pass at tracks where you can't really pass on the corners themselves just down the straights.

Personally I can see why the Renault wasn't a safety, at the end of a long straight everyone can see coming. Double waved yellows and everyone slowing down there was very little risk there. The Sauber, I would actually have said they should have closed the pit lane for a lap to let the Marshalls come from the pitlane side rather than run across the track. But it's pretty easy to find a gap long enough for them to run across safely as they did. It's also going to be rare for anyone to be on line with that Sauber.

Though the potential for a failure and for that car to start rolling into the racing line was the real danger, that probably should have been a safety car.

I mostly agree but I wonder if it was more down to the call to pit when they thought a SC was on the cards. Had LH not pitted after eight laps on his first set of options he might have had more life left in his final set and been able to mount an attack on Bottas at the end.

That was a good race. Fantastic run by Lewis. Great battle between ric and alonso and a good run bottas.

Lewis is the man, if he just had the luck, he'd be walking this season.

Great attitude, thanks

I wasnt talking about you... i was talking about lewis! :p

Anyway... regarding the jenson lewis incident and upon further replays yeah jenson didnt make the apex properly and sort of looked a bit wide. I can see what lewis was thinking but he did lock up his front right.

Jens did say that he was racing him though so he wasnt letting him past or yielding
