German Grand Prix 2014, Hockenheim - Race 10/19

Great race

Great to watch Hamilton even if he was a Lil ott

Very surprised that parked sauber wasn't a safety car. Could have easily been a bad marshal involved incident

Bottas did as well as he could

Lotus had some new parts great to see them working /sarcasm
Maldonado must have made one of the worst moves in history

Button was average. Still hope RG maybe gets his seat

Maldonado gets paid the same no matter where he goes. If he was actually at Williams when the car was good and he was crap, his sponsors might lose faith. At Lotus he can blame the car... so another season of being paid 10mil + a year.

Doesn't sound to bad. Lotus having a terrible winter and a very difficult engine to deal with. With a Merc engine next year they should have significantly fewer problems in terms or reliability and better performance, leaving more money for fixing cars Grosjean and Maldonado break :p

Last I heard there was a question mark about the pdvsa money next year?
Then I also heard they might get merc engines

I think the Lotus merc engine thing was announced, though I guess it might not be finalised and frankly I presume confirming Maldonado at Lotus meant his sponsors have signed on.

It's quite likely a combo deal, his sponsors say to Lotus, get a proper engine fixing most of your problems and we'll be sponsors next year as well.

I wasnt talking about you... i was talking about lewis! :p

Anyway... regarding the jenson lewis incident and upon further replays yeah jenson didnt make the apex properly and sort of looked a bit wide. I can see what lewis was thinking but he did lock up his front right.

Jens did say that he was racing him though so he wasnt letting him past or yielding
..

Perhaps Lewis locked up because he jumped on the brakes when he realised Button hadn't seen him and was turning back into the racing line having gone wide?

100% Buttons fault. Yes Hamilton misread the situation, but you can't just aimlessly wander back onto the racing line and expect the other driver to jump out of the way.

As much as I like Button, he's had his day. He's slow and lost his sharpness. Both him and Kimi need to think about quitting before they become laughing stock.

Kimi put in some good move today. I wouldn't say he is past it. Comparing him to alonso is unfair as he is one of top two drivers on the grid.

Fair enough but the point being rosberg doesnt seem to come out with these "ooh im so hard done by" quibs like lewis... he just shuts up and doesnt blame himself or the team and gets on with things after any setbacks.

So the sulking and whining and a face like thunder from Rosberg was not hard done by?

Seriously, as Vettel squeezes him over into Alonso then makes contact. Look at the little turns he does to stop his front left hitting Alonso's tire, it's some freaking awesome avoiding there. I think when he gets used to the car he could be very good, but his lack of frankly commitment might stop him ever doing that.

Can't help but think he'd be more adapted to the car had he spent dozens of hours in the sim since the end of last season.

Fantastic race.

Ricciardo vs. Alonso was a gem. Hamilton's reckless charge through the field was also a delight. I'm a bit sad that the Safety-car-that-wasn't over Sutil denied us both a fight between Hamilton and Rosberg and Hamilton's shot at second but Bottas richly deserved second place for a great drive.

I expect Ferrari are disappointed in him too.

Yea the car isn't where it needs to be, but Kimi just seems to lack drive or desire. As if he's just riding it out waiting for the Ferrari retirement fund.

I have a love hate relationship with Lewis. He was in damage limitation mode so should be chuffed to come 3rd. If Massa didn't DNF he wouldn't have even had a podium. So why the long face? Ungrateful ****!

I think Bottas has got quite a gap over Massa, so if Massa did finish I still think Hamilton would have beaten him.

Lewis is peed because Rosberg beat him. He knows it's not like winning a race will put him out front. If Hamilton wins, Rosberg will be second. 14 points is still 2 race wins in that case, so loosing 3 points on a gamble on a SC that didn't pay off is massive.

He's irked because he once again lost ground for something that wasn't his fault. If the brakes hadn't gone he'd have had a near certain 2nd and a great shot at a first place.

Sure, there wasn't much else he could do there against two guys with better tyres being squeezed either side. Thinking around lap 11 on with his battle with Ric and LH, some amazing driving.

Kimi is a world champion. Comparing him to the best is entirely the point.

I've been deeply disappointed by Kimi this season. I expected a lot better of him.

Once, way back in 2007, which is eras away in F1,especially considering the cars this season. That's like saying, England won the world cup once, so we can quite rightly compare them to today's Germany. No.

Agreed though, he has been disappointing. Maybe next year he can deliver more and show more willing.
