Harsh for those that have lost their jobs :(

Seems Caterham are pretty much on the brink though so guess drastic action is pretty much inevitable for their survival.

Didn't they have a really healthy budget for the past few seasons too? Guess that is the kind of excess they will be trying to get rid of... Marussia are beating them with a fraction of the money.

You know, I almost hope that happens. Especially if Rosberg wins. I always wanted to see a forum implode due to a ragegasm....

That's already booked in:

23rd November 2014. Hamilton looses the WDC due to the double points for the final race rule. Mods can't control it and the Motorsport Sub Forum is nuked.

Oh could you imagine! Especially if Merc 'sabotaged' his car and something went wrong/slow pit stop... The conspiracy theories would go on for years!:p

The cynic in me is really looking forward to Abu Dhabi just to see how the double points absolutely ruins the climax.

You've got it the wrong way round.

The double points rule was introduced because the FIA wanted the championship to be decided in the final round. If that happens and it is decided in Abu Dhabi then it validates the FIAs decision and justifies the rule.

What we want is for the title to be decided before the final round, making the FIAs decision misguided and the rule utterly pointless.

If the rule has an impact then the rule has done its job, and the last thing we want is the FIA thinking its a good idea and carrying it on for next year.

Well, no, it's hardly justified if someone is 49 points in the lead of the championship, leading the final lap, but suffers a puncture from someone elses debris and crashes out.

In this scenario, the driver would be faultless but end up losing the championship when they should already have won it at the previous race. Sure, this is an extreme example, but this would ruin the climax for a lot of people.

That would be totally horrible, especially for whoever the driver was, and i'm sure fans would not be happy BUT it would make people watch the last race if there was a chance that it wasn't 100% decided, like Skeeter said they want it to be wrapped up at Abu Dhabi and even with that example it would be... However terrible it'd be.
