Germany and cannabis laws...

I always love the way some people can got grasp that ALL drugs carry risks, including the legal ones... Cannabis is no more harmful than anything else
People who are psychotic are often a danger to themselves or others. That’s worse than having a physical reaction to a drug, you’re not going to harm anyone or yourself.

You really struggle with basic concepts don't you?

Are you really good at maths? Can you perhaps count cards? I should take you to Vegas.

Unfortunately the reefer madness argument isn’t nonsense. A lot of MH patients I’ve met due to my own MH issues have been cannabis smokers or indeed alcoholics. It’s safe for some but not everybody. Alcohol and cigarettes should be banned too but it’s too late for that.

Why legalize another potentially harmful substance.
a big issue here is correlation does not equal causation. It should be noted many people with MH issues end up with drug or alcohol problems due to their MH issues, the inverse is much rarer and often disputed

So I was actually reading a thesis written by an anti-marijuana theorist a while back, this person wrote quite possibly the most convincing argument I've ever seen, I've certainly not come across a more poignant piece as of yet. It really goes in to depth on the research carried out by the anti-drugs brigade and the point this professor makes is very good and supported by every single bit of evidence they could get their hands on.

I've copied it here below, it's a bit wordy so you'll have to expand the spoiler tags:

According to (I think it was him who posted it) Dis86, both the criminal alcohol and tobacco trades are multi billion industries and both those things are legal. I don't think legalising it is going to suddenly mean criminals aren't going to profit out of it.
if alcohol was illegal, then the illegal trade would be hundreds of times larger. Legalizing drugs would make the criminal trade hundreds of times smaller.

The problem now is that since society largely thinks that drug use is acceptable and so is very common, the police don't do too much to prevent the criminal distribution and the scale of drug trade makes this impossible, so ultimately the criminals have a pretty easy ride. Once you legalize a lot of soft drugs then the illegal supply plumets as most people will simply pick up their supply on their way to Tesco. It is then much easier to try and tackle the much smaller illegal trade, and there would be higher societal support

I'm surprised to see so many pro making it legal. I can't stand the stuff and even now when it's illegal, the people I come across smoking it all seem to be blissfully ignorant about the surroundings they smoke it it.

One of my neighbours smokes it and does so with her patio doors open because I assume she doesn't want the smoke or smell of it in her flat, so the two flats above hers of which one is mine, have to put up with the repugnant smell. The other flat in question also had a new born baby at one point, and in summer you need the windows open because the flats get stupidly warm (built 5 years ago and are air tight with a very good EPC rating).

It's my opinion that people who smoke this stuff don't perceive drug driving to be as socially unacceptable as drink driving. Case in point with my neighbours above, I got back to the flat last Friday late morning and it stank of the stuff with only one of them in at the time. They then jumped into their car all of 40 minutes later. Drug driving is also on the rise and that's with it being illegal. If I were to ask the guy above if he felt it was okay to drink and drive, I'm sure his answer would be no.

My other experience of it recently was at a family friendly music festival, which includes a whole section dedicated to kids fairground rides. You have people smoking it whilst stood right next to parents with children. If you want to smoke it, fine, but why can't you wait between the sets and go to the far corner of the site to smoke it where it doesn't have to bother other people?

Hopefully it remains illegal, it isn't beneficial to society for it to be made legal. Whilst drinking is legal, society generally has strict opinion on when drinking is acceptable hence why we don't get people turning up to work drunk.
This is more an issue about an annoying antisocial neighbour. This women should know better and to go outside away, but society is filled with such people.

People get into cars drunk and then crash into and kill other people on a regular basis.

Dogs are more dangerous than weed

It took decades to shift the public's acceptance of drink driving in the 70s vs today

Personally I don't like weed as it makes people stupid and it stinks. And I certainly do not think it's good for younger people who are still developing.

I think in an ideal world it should be available but should be in moderation and not everywhere. Want a joint down the lake now and then? Fine. Smoke in your home cool. Just not in all streets and certainly should be regarded with caution foe youngsters.

This won't happen and it will continue to be unsavory in my eyes....but I still don't think should be illegal.

Inb4 someone screeches about dangers of alcohol in a classic case of whataboutism

I don’t get all the fuss, I must either see people smoking it or smell it almost daily when I’m out walking. The police don’t really care anymore other than the occasional bust for the papers. I know for sure that there are houses where I live that grow it. Just legalise it and make some tax money off it.

Its stinking horrible mind-bending stuff.
I'm failing to see the problem :)

I get that people may not like it for themselves but to want it banned for everyone else. Get a grip!

I don't really like drinking. I expect I have maybe a glass of wine once a month, if I'm being generous. Not a fan of how it feels, especially not a fan of how it makes people behave nor of how it feels when someone talks to you and you can smell the alcohol on their breath. I honestly don't get the big thrill with literally drinking a poison or that pub culture and binge drinking are a thing.

Despite that, I still wouldn't want it made illegal for those that do enjoy it. It's a wild practice but there is a power in not worrying about what someone else wants to take if it's not affecting you.

He's talking about the Daily Mail dude :p

Yeah, Richard Branson is really stupid, and Barack Obama completely stupid, ect ect

There are literal studies that show consuming cannabis long term (7 years) has detrimental impact on cognitive functions and can lower IQ by over 5 points. These levels are higher than the impacts from tobacco and alcohol.
