Germany and cannabis laws...

The UK always seem to be stuck between a conservative mind set of the US, and a liberal outlook of Europe.

But on this subject both sides are more forward thinking than we are.
I find this post ironic after my experiences with a cannabis store in Long Beach :D

Ex recreational user here - maybe like once a month. It was decriminalised in south africa while I lived there. Wouldn't mind it being decriminalised here as well...

Normal and healthy, that’s what the psychotherapists say.
To a degree, if your **** is as red as a cooked lobster, I suspect normal and healthy went out the window months ago.

Key to anything is moderation and responsibility, it goes for everything. Masturbation, weed, alcohol, exercise, dieting.

Oh but alcohol is legal and socially acceptable - yeah in the same way it was acceptable to send your child up a chimney 200 yrs ago, things change, get over it.

There are literal studies that show consuming cannabis long term (7 years) has detrimental impact on cognitive functions and can lower IQ by over 5 points. These levels are higher than the impacts from tobacco and alcohol.
Are we talking once a day or serial abusers?

If it's the latter then the person doing tobacco probably has lung cancer and the alcoholic is dead.

The research I saw were people who smoked it at least once a week, though majority of those in the study used it four times a week. Obviously we don't know how consumption will differ between what's offered illegally vs what could be provided legally after regulation.

I hear you on that.

The US federal level is very conservative. But some States are quite liberal.

Though it as created a situation, which I think Michael Gove fell in, when he bragged about smoking cannabis in a State it was legal to do. But then there was a question mark on if he would now be barred from entering the US again as it's still a crime at federal level.

I see the OCUK Daily Mail brigade are out in full force.

It should be legal and taxed. All taxes raised should be spent on drug addiction treatment and the NHS.

If it is fine for people to drink why shouldn't someone get stoned in the privacy of their own home? You can still have laws about smoking in public places. A lot will swerve smoking anyway and take the edible options.

It also takes it out of the hands of the criminal gangs. Its win win all round.

I don't know who you hang about with, but I don't know many alcoholics. These pointless posts aren't really adding any value because what point are you making exactly? Let's encourage getting stoned to the mix because there happens to be alcoholics within society? Let's just legalise crack because according to all these pro-high posts, we should just legalise crack as it'll take money out of the hands of criminals and people are already addicted to other vices such as alcohol and weed anyway.

I think it's more the point we can tax it and make money from it and there will always be people who abuse it and do irrational things, does not mean everyone will and should be off limits, especially as it can have health benefits.

Agree with the other poster who quoted you. You’re missing the fact that we currently treat these people on the NHS, at least by taxing it we can identify more users and fund the health they need via taxes.
