***GET 20% OFF XFX ATI Radeon HD 5870!***

Pretty sure non reference therefore no voltage tweaking and probably overclocking limit of 900 on core. I have one and it works fine it just can't keep up with my 5970 which will do 940 on the core.

I have the 5850 version of the XFX card - looks pretty much identical - and voltage tweaking is possible using Sapphire Trixxx v3.02.

Worth a try to see if it works.

Recieved and installed my xfx 5870 and its one hell of a card in performance but its so noisy its unreal. Just playing Crysis 2 it drowns out all my case fans and is louder than my desk fan. I really cannot have it this loud just gaming so unfortuantely its going to be returned its a shame as the performance really is superb....

Have you tried using MSI Afterburner or something similar to set a custom fan profile ?

Most cards will have the fan running faster than is really needed, so check the temp in CCC after gaming for 30mins or so.

If it's around 60c, you could set the fan to a fixed speed to it doesn't ramp up when gaming, which should make it quieter.

Your load temps on the gpu will obviously increase, so keep an eye on them while tweaking the fan speed. Anything under 80c will still be fine.

After an hour of crisis I now have this, Why do I always get the faulty one out a batch..

Mine purrs away and silky smooth when I was testing CS Source as well as Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. Some fps issues with MX vs ATV Reflex and motion blur due to the rubbish console port done by another company.

Just out of curiosity, why do AMD supply tiny little CrossFire bridges that are useless? Why not supply the ones like you get with the motherboards. The worst that could happen is it has more of a bend. I'll need to try and find another bridge if I want to connect two. Only the one with the motherboard would reach.

I'm having one little issue at the desktop across the top of the screen on Windows 7 64bit with Catalyst 11.2. Half an inch there's this little interference issue that flicks horizontally from time to time but doesn't happen in games. Usually when you open AMD Overdrive and click the buttons triggers it. I've seen this sort of thing before with my X1950's. Asus PC probe triggers it as well. Close it and it never happens.

Mine is very quiet and I see you have artifacts.

Looks like you have a defective one. :(

Mate you're not alone, I'm on my 3rd XFX 5870 and am still waiting for OCUK to sort me a 4th.

Mines going back for a refund will get something from a different make. I just tried it again and managed to get a temp reading before it blue screened and it was at 91.c with the fan at jet engine levels.
I have taken a few videos to help with the Rma if needed..

Will be playing crysis on the trusty old xbox this weekend.. :(

Problems on first installation or after some good use?

Out of curiosity... How long did it take for the fan to soar to those levels and hit that temperature? Is the fan levels worse than the days of the GeForce 5800 Ultra?

Also again out of curiosity, do you have one bridge or two?

Once windows has loaded it just goes loud green squares and then either blue screens or reboots. Its the loudest I have ever heard a graphics card fan but it's because its faulty it gets to these levels. It has 2 crossfire bridges.
