GET IN THERE 42.5 mpg in a LCR

the ECU controls the N75 valve, when the ECU sees the boost it wants, it uses the N75 valve to open and close the wastegate

Aye, just wondering if the N75 is as thick as that or not.

Its only on the later DBW cars that things started to get complex, like mine has a thrust / map sensor in the intercooler cause its DBW any the pre DBW stuff didn't, i know the older 1.8T's allow overboost to happen since the ecu can't force itself into either Soft or Hard limp home mode.

Just wondering what signal the ECU is taking to regulate the N75.

here's a nice explanation:

You should try it, beats washing sick out of the back of a diesel Skoda.

I got 41mpg out of my Golf MK5 GTi on a trip from Cardiff to Newcastle. Most boring trip ever.

I get 10MPG less if I do 80mph over 70mph. It's a lot more relaxing doing the speed limit too. B-roads are another story though :D

Im not that familiar with VAG FI systems. But ist MAF yeah? So it will need a seperate pressure sensor, doesnt matter where that is really, either post or pre throttle. This is what the ECU reads on then uses the MAF/speed look up tables to determine the boost pressure to regulate. Clearly an MBC instead will just run full boost all the time with the MAF and/or sensor readings to give the correct fuel mix from the ECU map.

Same as any boost solenoid, a PWM signal.

I think a lot of people are assuming this N75 is awesome, it's not. Its just an electronic bleed valve controlled by the Ecu to stop the boost being unlimited.

They were used on DTAs when I was looking at options for mine ages ago

I've managed 40.2 MPG out of the S3 before on a run to Devon and back with the missus and a car full of stuff. That was doing 60mph pretty much everywhere and the MPG figure calculated properly

Am currently getting between 32 and 36 MPG depending on how much town driving I do. Am pretty impressed with it actually, although it doesn't take much for that figure to plummet if hooning it around!

This is on a 210 S3 remapped to ~265 BHP

snap remapped to 265 with sa bmc

Firstly, MkI Octy vRS. (180 budgies)

I drove up the M6 this morning, 60 ish miles, firstly doing 90'ish, then doing 75-80 after passing a volvo police thing, and realising i'm getting my petrol paid for, and I don't need to rush as there's naff all work to do. I got to work, flipped to the average mpg thibg, 40.9mpg. I was quite pleased as I normally get 33 ish when doing normal speeds.*

Anyway now I see i'm clearly not trying hard enough if the 225 can get more!
I'm going to live with the lorries on the way back down to London and see what that gets me.**

* All lies obviously I only ever do 70mph and no more, even when overtaking in the outside lane with a queueueue of traffic behind me, hey i'm doing the limit guys kkk </sarcasm>

** I probably will not do this, as it is: boring.

Anyway, somebody said "this involved a lot of use of neutral". If you mean a new'ish car with an ECU and not carbs it's better to leave it in gear and zero throttle, where my instant read-out goes to ---.-- or whatever. This is what I am led to believe in any case.

At 70mph I would think it was easy. I used to get it in my 280PS 2.0T if I sat at 70mph forever. I even managed 35mpg in my S2000 on a trip to Manchester from Reading.

However it was VERY boring. :p

How  I got just over 20MPG from my S2000 on the 200 mile run back from le mans to cherbourg.

After driving one back to back with an F355, Z4M, and a 996 C4 and finding the S2000 actually held its own, i bought one on the way back :)
