Get your Oculus Touch Order pre-order

That's great, looks like they are going to be delivered before xmas!!

And come on guys, if you got the Touch controllers today make sure you give us some details!!

I've not set it up yet but from handing it (vs the Vive):

Much lighter than Vive wands
Much smaller than Vive wands
Appears much better built and with higher quality materials when compared to Vive wands
Ergonomics are excellent with all of the controls falling under fingers and thumbs easily
Buttons are smooth and the triggers are light

In the box are the two controllers, a second sensor, 2 AA batteries (one for each controller), a Rock Band thing.

Well that's incredible... placed the order with Amazon at around lunch time, initially saying 7th for delivery. Just got a dispatch notice saying it'll arrive tomorrow (the 6th).

Meanwhile absolutely no movement on my "preferential" spot in line order with oculus.... I've asked for it to be cancelled, hopefully it gets actioned before they do get around to dispatching it.

Mine arrived this morning, too. I cannot compare to vive as I have only just got into vr with the cv1 and touch controllers. It has a built in system like the vive for boundery awareness called guardian and the hand movement system is very intuitive.

Only tried a quick oculus demo but the controllers work really well for me. Very pleased.

My thoughts.

1. Wish they gave you a USB extension cable as they did with the CV1 for the 2nd sensor.
2. The controllers are well built and fit the hands perfectly. Very light and you instantly get used to them. No stupid wands.
3. Configuration was quite simple.
4. The guardian grid system is nice and can be switched on / off or configured via the menu button on the touch controllers.
5. The CV1 remote is now redundant.
6. Nicely packaged.

So, Steam VR support for touch is very lacking. Can't work out how to reset the floor position. I've put my cameras up quite high and now it thinks my floor is where my neck is. Can't play Space Pirate Trainer because of it. Gah, I really don't want to have to buy it again in Oculus Home.
Oh well, I guess better support will come.

Having used both Vive and Touch now I can say that the tracking is just as good between the two but Touch is more ergonomic. The finger tracking is fantastic.

However, I really think that the Vive lighthouses is a more elegant solution than the cameras and IR LEDs that the Rift uses.

For anyone with troubles with SteamVR and the Chaperone it's well worth downloading Chaperone Tweak: https://www.reddit.com/r/Vive/comments/4yoihe/chaperonetweak_an_invr_chaperone_editor/

In fact, even if you don't have issues with your Chaperone it's worth download to tweak the hell out of it :)

Also, after UPS screwing me around - originally scheduled for the 6th, then the 5th, then the 6th again! It turned up on my doorstep...

do the pre-orders direct from oculus still get "Unspoken and VR Sports Challenge" free ?

Has anyone who pre-ordered from Amazon received their game codes yet?

I've ordered and received both.

I'm not sure if the game codes were for pre-orders only, but it would seem logical.

I've not received pre-order codes for my Amazon order, only the Oculus one.

Ok touch is freaking amazing...

I've already hit the low ceiling once or twice in my man cave, and punched the 3D printer. Even so I'm just amazed at the guardian system (although it could do with going 3D) and the accuracy and feel of touch is brilliant.

Well worth the investment, I definitely recommend any oculus owners who are on the fence about adding touch give it a go. I can't wait to see my friends having a go, I can only imagine how stupid I looked!

It's incredible what a difference having hands in the game makes. I've only played the initial demo experience, but what I've seen so far is hugely impressive. Being able to grab and manipulate objects completely changes the level of immersion. My playspace is quite small at the moment, so I hit the guardian limits a lot but even that didn't break my immersion.

Now downloading some of the other freebies while I wait for the Amazon pre-order codes to come in.
