Hi, I got a phone call from my landlord this morning saying hes spiting up with his wife and she now has control over all his rental properties.

He has told me she wants to move into this house:eek: I have 3 kids and we have lived here for 4 years. The rent we pay is £433 every month and it's very cheap for a 3 bedroom house. So ocuk what do i do, we work for a living so that means no council house?

council houses have a massive waiting list anyway and you would never get one if you can aford to rent.

my mum and dad lived in a council house and they both had jobs it was a brand new freshly built council estate aswell so they got pretty lucky but this was back in the 70's when things were a lot different.

these days you would probably have to wait until 2070 .

maybe have a look and see what housing asociations are around where you live.

He has to give you notice, can't just verbally tell you to leave.

No he was very nice, he was just warning me i think. Thing is nothing has been done to the house in the time we have been here, no gas check, nothing. To be frank it's a mess, and i have a feeling we will get the blame.

Check your rental agreement, they have to give you a minimum amount of notice (Normally 2 months AFAIK). Council will not help at all, when this happened to me, I got told to be sit in tenants as the council list is huge, which was not an option as I didn't want the landlord getting hardcore and coming in and changing the locks, and binning all my stuff.

Could always do what I did back in Canada once.

Landlord told us we had to leave at the end of the month. This was something like 26 days notice. The contract specified a full month notice was required. I waited until the day before he wanted us out and I presented him with the contract. He had to give me a new notice then for a full month.

No gas check? I thought it was the law. Our Landlord sends someone out once a year.

There are definately laws protecting you. They can't just kick you out one day. Even on a student house you have a one year contract you should have at least until your contract runs out *I think* (not being a lawer or expect on these things!).

It all depends what the contract says, i say, at least you'll have 1 month to find a place as I would at least expected a minimum of 1 month's notice.
