I expect the increase in price and lack of availability has put many off, and some people have cancelled their order and gone for a 3700X instead. But yes, like many other who ordered a week after launch, I am surprised to be in line for one of this batch.
 
lol, couldn't make this up, I ordered on 7/7 about 30mins after launch, but because the motherboard wasn't in stock they didn't ship or reserve the cpu. I literally cancelled it at 11:30 this morning and now they arrive :mad:
 
I ordered on the 19th and cancelled a week later. No regrets to be honest, stock has been a shambles and price gouge has been swift.

I'm not interested in rewarding it, it's getting proper tiresome now. All the tech companies are operating like this.

Owch I thought I was unlucky cancelling Saturday.

Don't suppose there is anything we can do, very unfortunate, the stock has been an utter shambles as String mentioned, Im sure im not the only one who has been left a bit disappointed. What should have been an exciting new build coming from a 2600k has been made 'meh' because of the waiting and no gps tracking. How can suppliers not inform stores of inbound stock a few days prior is beyond me.

Other items were out of stock but they split the order and assured me that I would maintain my place in the queue for the CPU. I've received everything except the CPU now.

That’s exactly what I thought. It was the chip I was originally waiting for anyway but as it won’t work on my X470 mobo I may give it a miss completely.

Or go with the original plan and pick one up on Black Friday with a discounted mobo.

Truly a first world problem, I know. :p
